Hardin-Simmons Baseball Team Wins Series

Abilene, Texas-Hardin-Simmons University held off a ninth-inning rally Sunday to escape with a 3-2 win over the Eagles in game three and win the final two games of their American Southwest Conference series over the weekend.

Ozarks (7-23, 4-18 ASC) trailed 3-1 heading into the ninth inning, but the Eagles made things interesting by putting two runners in scoring position with two outs. Grady Finley drove a single through the middle of the infield to score Sam Shook and make it 3-2. With a runner on third, Hardin-Simmons (10-20, 6-14 ASC) put the game away by forcing a fly out for the third out. Ozarks tied it 1-1 in the sixth on John Singler's RBI single. The Cowboys scored the winning run in the seventh.  Ozarks outhit Hardin-Simmons 11-7.

Oscar Dominguez (1-5) took the loss after throwing seven and one-third innings. Dominguez was charged with one earned run and struck out five.

Andres Acosta went 3-for-3 for the Eagles.

Prior to the game, the Cowboys and Eagles finished game two of the series after the contest was suspended Saturday in the sixth. The Cowboys won the game 10-2. Hardin-Simmons had a 8-2 lead after the fourth.  Andrew Beck doubled in a run in the first and then homered in the third for both of Ozarks' runs. Alex Rodriguez (3-5) took the loss as the starter.
    
Ozarks will host Hendrix College April 21.
