McMurry Powers Six Home Runs In Double-Header Sweep

Abilene, Texas-McMurry University homered three times to take a 15-1 win in game one and then homered three more times to secure a 6-2 game two win Friday.

In game one, the War Hawks (19-20, 14-10 ASC) battered Ozarks' pitching with 15 hits, three homers and five doubles during the seven inning game. The Eagles (14-25, 5-18 ASC) were held to two hits in the contest. McMurry scored three times in the first inning and four times in the second inning to hold a quick 7-0 lead. After five, the War Hawks had a 11-0 advantage. Zac Jones singled in Jordan Jones in the sixth for the Eagles only run of the game.

Brady Taylor (2-4) took the loss as the starter.

In game two, McMurry had a productive third inning as it hit a pair of two-run homers to go up 4-0. Ozarks got one run back in the top of the fourth, but McMurry answered with its sixth homer of the day in the bottom half of the frame. The Eagles added another run in the seventh on a Zac Jones RBI single. Ozarks produced nine hits in the game. Luke Dyer (1-3) took the loss as the starter. Dean Igert and Fielder Dufrene each had two hit games.

Ozarks will conclude its series against McMurry tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
