UT-Tyler Baseball Team Completes Sweep

Clarksville, Ark.-The nationally-ranked UT-Tyler Patriots completed a three-game sweep of the Eagles after posting a 12-5 win Sunday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

The Patriots (21-4, 11-1 ASC) tagged Ozarks (9-12, 3-9 ASC) with three runs in the first and four more in the second to hold a quick 7-0 advantage. The Eagles scored two runs on an error in the bottom of the second. Ozarks wouldn't record another hit until the fifth inning. Zac Jones homered to open the bottom half of the frame and Chase Edwards recorded a sacrifice fly to score Alex Smith, trimming the deficit to 7-4. UT-Tyler added two runs in the seventh and another in the eighth. Ozarks pushed one run across in the bottom of the eighth when Patrick Mixon recorded a sacrifice fly to score Edwards.

The Patriots pounded out 19 hits. Dalton Spurgeon (1-3) suffered the loss. Hayden Keller struck out five in six innings of relief work.

Ozarks will host Hendrix College March 29 at 2:00 p.m.
