Hendrix Baseball Team Pulls Out 8-7 Win

Clarksville, Ark.-Hendrix College pulled out a 8-7 come-from-behind win Wednesday over the Eagles.   

The Eagles (9-24) held a 7-4 lead after five innings of play before the Warriors (17-20) scored three in the seventh and the game-winner in the eighth. Chase Edwards doubled in a run and Dakota Ebarb singled in a run in the first inning. Hendrix quickly answered with the three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Ozarks eventually took the lead back in the third by scoring three times. Ozarks built its lead to 7-4 in the fifth behind Edwards' two-run single. But the lead wouldn't last as the Warriors plated three runs to even the contest in the seventh. In the bottom of the eighth, Hendrix generated the game-winning run with back-to-back sacrifice bunts.

Ozarks outhit the Warriors 10-8. Edwards went 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead Ozarks. Jack Waggoner (2-5) was charged with the loss.

The two teams also finished a suspended game from April 4. The Eagles were topped 12-6. Hendrix had a big second inning, scoring five runs to take control of the game. The Warriors later plated four runs in the fifth to move ahead 9-0. In the seventh, Ozarks rallied to score six runs on three-run doubles from Ebarb and Patrick Mixon. Starter AJ Chalupka (0-1) received the loss.

The Eagles will travel to Alpine, Texas, to face Sul Ross State University April 21-22.
