Clarksville, Ark.- 30 University of the Ozarks student-athletes were named to the 2016-2017 winter/spring American Southwest Conference (ASC) All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office Friday (June 2).
To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must be classified academically as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season and have been in attendance and completed at least one academic year (two consecutive semesters) at their institution. They must also have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as certified at the conclusion of the spring 2017 semester.
The baseball team placed nine athletes on the team: Andrew Beck, a senior physical education major from Conway, Ark.; Gabriel Figueroa Rodriguez, a sophomore mathematics major from Cagaus, Puerto Rico; Benjamin Hall, a sophomore political science/history major from Fairbanks, Alaska; Bobby Ketterer, a junior economics major from Bandera, Texas; Quinten Parker, a senior business administration major from Gravette, Ark.; Keaton Ramsey, a senior accounting major from Sheridan, Ark.; Edwin Rodriguez, a sophomore international business/economics major from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; Dalton Spurgeon, a sophomore management major from Lee's Summit, Mo.; and Luke Vera, a senior accounting major from Bentonville, Ark.
The men's basketball team placed two athletes on the team: Josh Ferrell, a senior health science major from West Fork, Ark.; and Dillon Gash, a senior mathematics major from Elkins, Ark.
The women's basketball team placed six athletes on the team: Roseanna Ezell, a junior accounting/mathematics major from Quitman, Ark.; Makara Frazier, a sophomore undeclared major from Camden, Ark.; Karlee Henson, a junior management/biology major from Mulberry, Ark.; Anisha Johnson, a junior physical education major from Little Rock, Ark.; Bryanna Moltz, a senior health science major from Sheridan, Ark.; and Sarah Scroggins, a senior business education/business administration from Oark, Ark.
The softball team placed six athletes on the team: Kayla Gray, a senior health science major from Pangburn, Ark.; Laken Gray, a senior health science major from Pottsville, Ark.; Brooke Hoffsommer, a junior health science major from Alma, Ark.; Brooklyn Keeling, a sophomore business education major from Farmington, Ark.; Cheyanna Miller, a sophomore health science/music major from West Plains, Mo.; and Krysten Shavers, a senior business administration major from Waco, Texas.
The men's tennis team placed two athletes on the team: Dillon Murray, a senior health science major from West Helena, Ark.; and Spencer Turner, a junior accounting major from Pearcy, Ark.
The women's tennis team placed two athletes on the team: Olivia Allard, a sophomore biology major from Rogers, Ark.; and Maggie Johnson, a senior physical education major from Atoka, Tenn.
Layne Garcia, a junior management major from Fort Worth, Texas, represented the men's track program.
The women's track team had two athletes: Caitlyn Bell, a sophomore biology major from Hensley, Ark.; and Hannah Smith, a sophomore accounting major from Blue Eye, Mo.
Baseball player Keaton Ramsey was also named Academic All-Conference as a sports information student assistant, while basketball players Anisha Johnson and Bryanna Moltz made Academic All-Conference as student athletic trainers.
