GAME ONE
Overview:
The Eagles played one of their best games of the season combining an outstanding pitching effort, home run hitting and flawless defense to upend East Texas Baptist University 13-3 and win the series Monday afternoon. Freshman starting pitcher Blake Benson threw another gem to move his record to 2-0 on the season. Benson tossed a complete game (7.0 innings), struck out four, issued just one walk and faced 28 batters. Meanwhile, the Eagles' offense went through six Tiger pitchers in the game and Breyden Varner homered twice to power the offense. Chase Edwards also homered, but it was Rocky Liveoak that led the offense with three hits. Varner and Edwards went yard in back-to-back at-bats in the first inning. The Eagles' defense played error free for Benson. In the sixth, the Eagles exploded for seven runs on five hits to take a 9-2 lead. In the seventh, Varner cranked out his fifth home run of the season to drive in three runs. Varner finished with five RBI and Edwards had three RBI.

Notables:
Breyden Varner hit two home runs in a game for the second time this season. Varner also accomplished the feat against Westminster College February 17.
Freshman left-hander Blake Benson tossed his second gem in his second start of the season. Benson threw a complete game and struck out four to move to 2-0.
Chase Edwards recorded his fifth multiple-RBI game of the season. Against ETBU, he drove in three runs.
