GAME ONE
Overview:
Chase Edwards blasted a grand slam in the third inning and the Eagles scored all six runs in that frame to power past Hendrix College 6-5. The win avenges a pair of shutout losses against Hendrix earlier in the season. Starting pitcher Jacob Tamayo (1-1) picked up his first collegiate win with an outstanding performance. Tamayo scattered eight hits over seven innings. In facing 28 batters, he never issued a walk. Hendrix did its most damage in the first inning against Tamayo scoring three runs, but the freshman settled in after that and did not allow another hit until the fifth inning. Meanwhile the Eagles loaded the bases with one out for the dangerous left-handed hitter Edwards. Edwards delivered a shot over the right field wall to ignite the inning. Josh Stephens and Zach Stanley later recorded RBI to bring the score to 6-3. The Warriors scored a run in the ninth with two outs, but Corey Steward forced a fly out to receive his third save of the season.
