Winter/Spring ASC All-Academic Team Announced

48 University of the Ozarks student-athletes were named to the 2018-2019 winter/spring American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office Wednesday (June 5).

Clarksville, Ark.- 48 University of the Ozarks student-athletes were named to the 2018-2019 winter/spring American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office Wednesday (June 5). 
     
To be eligible for ASC Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be classified academically as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season and have been in attendance and completed at least one academic year (two consecutive semesters) prior to the season at their institution. They must also have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as certified at the conclusion of the academic semester in which the ASC sport championship is held.

The baseball team placed 11 athletes on the team: Mason BaDour, a sophomore biology/biomedical major from Richardson, Texas; David Beck, a sophomore physical education major from Conway; Fielder Dufrene, a senior physical education major from Clinton, Ark.; Dakota Ebarb, a senior business administration/psychology major from Lavon, Texas; Chase Edwards, a junior business administration major from Chandler, Ariz.; Jake Holland, a junior communication studies major from Stafford, Texas; Rocky Liveoak, a senior health science major from Neosho, Mo.; RJ Oliver, a senior health science major from Bowie, Texas; Edwin Rodriguez, a senior international business/economics major from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; Dalton Spurgeon, a senior management major from Lee's Summit, Mo.; and Sam Swartz, a senior business administration major from Granby, Mo.

The men's basketball team placed three athletes on the team: Kelvin Knight, a junior physical education major from Katy, Texas; Tim Turpin, a sophomore business administration major from Cypress, Texas; and Cory Wilhelm, a junior biology/biomedical major from Ratcliff, Ark.      

The women's basketball team placed four athletes on the team: Makara Frazier, a senior physical education major from Camden, Ark.; Kamryn McKinney, a sophomore health science major from Sallisaw, Okla.; Savannah Kate Smith, a senior health science major from Perryville, Ark.; and Delanei Stephens, a junior biology major from Coal Hill, Ark.

The softball team placed five athletes on the team: Kieara Bryant, sophomore health science major from Garfield, Ark.; Riki Haase, a sophomore political science/biology major from Argyle, Texas; Megan Madden, a sophomore accounting major from Flower Mound, Texas; Cheyanna Miller, a senior health science/music major from West Plains, Mo.; and Taylor Teague, a sophomore business administration major from Hope, Ark.

The men's tennis team placed six athletes on the team: Harrison Harbin, a sophomore political science major from Sulphur Springs, Texas; Bryce Johnson, a junior business administration major from Russellville, Ark.; Jonah Martinez, a sophomore business administration major from Fort Worth, Texas; Max Mathis, a sophomore environmental science/business administration major from Ward, Ark.; Walker Murray, a junior accounting major from West Helena, Ark.; and Melle Van Duijn, a junior philosophy/Spanish major from Nelson, New Zealand.

The women's tennis team placed two athletes on the team: Alexandria Corona, a sophomore psychology major from Willis, Texas; and Karlee Hart, a junior business administration/health science major from Van Buren, Ark., represented the women's tennis team.

The men's track team placed eight athletes on the team: Petron Brown, a sophomore environmental studies/business administration major from Nassau, Bahamas; Aaron Capehart, a sophomore physical education major from Siloam Springs, Ark.; Luis Garcia, a sophomore business administration major from Clarksville, Ark.; Michael Harris, a sophomore health science major from Elkins, Ark.; Jaeden Miller, a sophomore biology/secondary education major from Canton, Texas; Nathaneal Rankin, a sophomore undeclared major from Plano, Texas; Clinton Rolle, a sophomore psychology/business administration major from  Snug Corner, Bahamas; and Chandler Stewart, a sophomore chemistry major from Siloam Springs, Ark.

The women's track team had four athletes: Chauzney Hooks, a senior business administration major from Texarkana, Texas; Grasyn Langley, a senior biology major from Garland, Texas; Areli Moreno, a sophomore health science major from Katy, Texas; and Hannah Smith, a senior accounting major from Blue Eye, Mo. 

Student athletic trainers who made the team included Terri Brown, a sophomore health science/psychology major from Olive Branch, Miss.; Drew Mott, sophomore biology/health science major from Arlington, Texas; and Zach Walker, a senior health science major from Fort Worth, Texas.

Sports information student assistants included Gavin Wheeler, junior communication studies major from Combs, Ark.; and Rhett Williamson, a sophomore English major from Green Forest, Ark.
