Maranda Banning Named Head Cheer Coach

Maranda Banning is the new cheer coach.

Clarksville, Ark.-Maranda Banning is the new head cheer coach at University of the Ozarks, it was announced Tuesday (August 6) by Athletics Director Jimmy Clark.

Banning, a native of Clarksville, has coaching experience within the Clarksville School District and has served as the Upward Sports Cheer Director for four years.  

"We are thrilled to have an experienced head coach with a varied background in cheer," said Clark.  "Maranda will do an outstanding job with our program. She has been around the sport for numerous years and I believe her experience and skill will enhance our program."
     
Banning cheered in the Clarksville School District for five years and was team captain her senior season. She was named an All-American her senior year.

Banning is currently employed as a Computer Lab teacher for Clarksville Primary School. She is the Executive Director for Miss Johnson County, Miss Arkansas Valley, and Miss Arkansas Valley's Outstanding Teen. She was recently named Executive Director of the Year at the Miss Arkansas Pageant.

Banning and her husband Stephen reside in Clarksville with their two children.

She earned a bachelor's degree in middle level education from Arkansas Tech University.
