Josh Berard Named ASC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks senior guard Josh Berard was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by ASC Media Relations Director Jimmy Glenn.
    
Berard, a native of Fort Smith, Ark., averaged 27.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game assists over three games for Ozarks. Berard scored in double figures in all three games and started the week with 36 points, eight assists and eight rebounds against Mary Hardin-Baylor November 29. He shot 12-of-22 from the field for a 54 percent field goal average. Against Centenary College December 1, Berard surpassed 30 points again, scoring 31 behind a 12-of-14 performance from the free throw line. He also pulled down nine rebounds and recorded five assists. Berard reached double digits against UT Dallas December 3 scoring 15 points in a loss.

The 6-foot-3 Berard leads the ASC in scoring (25.6) and ranks tenth in rebounding (7.2), ninth in field goal percentage (48.2%), seventh in free throw percentage (78.4%) and eighth in steals (1.8). He has reached double figures in scoring in all five games for Ozarks.

Berard led the conference in scoring last season (24.0) and was named All-Region and All-Conference. Berard was named All-State his senior season at Northside High School.
