THE BASICS
The surging Eagles held the lead for the majority of the game en route to a 95-83 win over East Texas Baptist University Saturday in American Southwest Conference play. The Eagles led 44-35 at halftime and then built a 16-point advantage five minutes into the second half. The Tigers did make a couple of runs in the second half, including cutting it to six points with under three minutes to play, but the Eagles never let the visitors take the lead. The Eagles hit 10-of-11 from the free throw line in the final one minute to secure the game. Ethan Bowman led the team with 17 points and tied for the team-high with eight rebounds. Bowman sank 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the contest. Cordy Winston drilled all four of his three-point attempts to score 12 points. Deon Blakemore, Jr. hit 2-of-2 from the three-point line to score 12 points.
