Hardin-Simmons Men Edge Eagles In Overtime

Abilene, Texas-Hardin-Simmons University scored the game-tying goal in the 71st minute and then recorded the game-winner early in overtime to edge the Eagles 2-1 Saturday in American Southwest Conference action.

It was Ozarks (4-1-2, 0-1-1 ASC) first loss of the season. The Eagles struck first with a goal in the 31st minute from Sean Garcia. Hardin-Simmons (3-2-0, 2-0-0 ASC) held a 15-3 shots advantage in the first half, but still trailed 1-0. Goalkeeper Luis Mena fought off a number of shots in his direction as he posted three saves in the first half. Hardin-Simmons eventually evened the match with a goal in the 71st minute off a corner kick. Neither team was able to score the rest of regulation. In overtime, Hardin-Simmons again took advantage of a corner kick situation to score the game-winner. It was Tanner Coffin who headed it in off the corner to hand Ozarks its first loss of the season.

Ozarks will host Ecclesia College September 22.
