THE BASICS
The Eagles scored first and held the lead for most of the match, but it wouldn't be enough as Texas Dallas netted a pair of second half goals to upend the Eagles 2-1 in their opening American Southwest Conference match. The Eagles found the back of the net when Richard Souffrant scored on a corner kick from Thomas Ross in the 13th minute. After a scoreless first  ten minutes of the second half, the Comets connected on a penalty kick in the 60th minute to even the match. Eventually the Comets broke through the Eagles' defense in the 65th minute to score the game-winning goal. Texas Dallas powered 21 shots in the match, while the Eagles generated eight.
