THE BASICS
The Eagles escaped Hardin-Simmons with a 2-1 win after the Cowboys notched an own goal in the 83rd minute Thursday night. The Eagles played a strong match, outshooting the home team 17-12. The Eagles scored first when Spence Jean Baptist back-heeled a shot in the 25th minute. Thomas Ross headed the ball prior to the shot to receive an assist. The Cowboys then evened the match 1-1 in the 43rd minute. A back-and-forth second half ensued until the Eagles were rewarded a corner kick. Following a number of deflections, the ball ended up in the back of the net. A final shot for the Cowboys with just seconds left sailed wide. Ross and Miguel Reyes had four shots each.
