THE BASICS
Just when it appeared the Eagles were out of the game, Richard Souffrant scored back-to-back goals late in the second half to send the match into overtime and eventually finish with a 3-3 double overtime tie against East Texas Baptist University. Thursday night's conference match had plenty of drama as both teams had chances to score in each overtime. Michael Luster scored the match's first goal in the 9th minute. The Tigers responded with a goal in the 23rd minute to even it. The Tigers would score another goal just before halftime to move ahead 2-1. The Eagles gave up a goal early in the second half to give the Tigers all the momentum. Down 3-1 with 20 minutes to play, Souffrant netted a goal in the 83rd minute. Souffrant wasn't done as he quickly scored the equalizer two minutes later. From there, the match went into overtime. Both teams fired off three shots in the first overtime and the Eagles had two more chances in the second overtime, but came up empty. In all, both teams had 19 shots. Luster had five shots to lead the Eagles. Logan Valestin had 10 saves in goal.
