THE BASICS
Despite recording nine shots on frame, tallying seven corner kicks and outshooting East Texas Baptist University 19-7, the Eagles were eliminated from the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament behind the Tigers' game-winning goal in the 82nd minute. With a 1-0 lead, the Tigers kept the Eagles from scoring in the final minutes to secure a victory. Spence Jean Baptiste had a final shot with five seconds remaining, but goalkeeper Bryant Botello made a clean save to preserve the match. At moments, it looked as though the Eagles would break open the match and score several goals. However, the Tigers were able to keep the shutout. Michael Luster put himself in scoring position on numerous occasions, but couldn't find the back of the net. Luster hit a shot that bounced off the cross bar in the 12th minute. His shot went high a minute later. In the second half, the Eagles' defense knocked a loose ball away off a corner kick in the 75th minute. Five minutes later, Truman Hensley stopped a Tiger offensive attack by sealing off the offensive player. The Eagles forced Botello into nine saves.
