Clarksville, Ark. – University of the Ozarks men's soccer standout Miguel Reyes has signed a professional contract with the Amarillo Bombers of the US Arena Pro Soccer League, the team announced.

Reyes, a recent Ozarks' graduate from Canyon, Texas, signed a one-year contract with FC Amarillo. Reyes made his debut April 28 and scored in his second game. As a midfielder, Reyes has helped the team to a 3-0-0 record to start the season. Reyes starred for Ozarks during his two seasons accumulating five career goals and six assists. Reyes was named All-Conference in both 2017 and 2018.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment for Miguel," said head coach Aaron Brueckner. "He's worked hard and deserves this opportunity. We always knew he had the potential to continue to play. He has the work ethic and talent to be an outstanding professional player. Few guys continue to play at the next level, but this goes to show that regardless of where you go, if you progress in the right way and do well, there is always an opportunity."

The USAPSL consists of Texas teams in Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Odessa and Lubbock. The league plays eight regular season games and a pair of playoff games.

"Technique is big in indoor soccer," said Reyes. "It is a much faster game. I've had a lot of fun so far. I'm glad I have the opportunity to play at the next level. Hopefully it opens up another door, but at the same time I'm taking it step by step. My ultimate goal is to bring a championship to the team."

The league plays six on six with field dimensions much smaller than a typical soccer field.

"It is high-scoring soccer, we won one game 18-6," said Reyes. "In this area, we draw a few thousand fans. We know how to play with each other, we have good team chemistry."

Reyes will serve as a Graduate Assistant at West Texas A&M for the women's soccer program when his season ends.
