David DeGeus Named Swimming Coach of the Year

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks Head Women's and Men's Swimming Coach David DeGeus was named the age group Coach of the Year by Arkansas Swimming for the 2015-2016 season.

DeGeus received the award as the head coach of the girl's and boy's Central Arkansas Swimming Club Racers (Clarksville), a role he has held since 2013. DeGeus, who was hired to start the swimming program for Ozarks, will receive the award at a March banquet in Little Rock. In 2015-2016, more than half of his swimmers for the Racers qualified for the state championships. From that group, numerous swimmers advanced to the finals and scored points, including several who placed first. His team had the first-ever sectional qualifier and first-ever zones qualifier from the River Valley area. DeGeus guided the CASC Racers to a third-place finish in the boy's and girl's spring and summer state championships. DeGeus also coaches the Clarksville Sea Dragons.

Ozarks is set to begin its inaugural swimming season this academic year under DeGeus, with the first meet scheduled for October 28-29 at Hendrix College. DeGeus was a seven-time All-America swimmer at Henderson State University.
