Edmond, Okla.-The University of the Ozarks men's swim team competed in the Sam Freas Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma Saturday.
No team scores were accumulated. In the 50-free, Josh Collins placed 16th with a time of 23.25. Nicolai Van Zyl placed 26th with a time of 23.71. Daniel Lopez was 41st (26.40), Gustavo Almaaraz was 43rd (26.58), Michael Vargas was 44th (27.23), Bailey Butler was 47th (28.62) and Stephen Eyma was 49th (40.74). In the 100-free, Jacob Jones was sixth with a time of 49.58. Josh Collins was 13th with a time of 51.76. Van Zyl was 22nd with a time of 53.02. Nicolas Dunsworth was 35th with a time of 57.30. Lopez was 36th with a time of 57.33. Almaraz was 39th with a time of 1:01.44 and Stephen Eyma was 42nd with a time of 1:33.96. In the 200-free, Jones placed third posting a time of 1:49.34. Nicolas White was 27th with a time of 1:59.98. In the 500-free, Jones had a fifth-place finish swimming a 5:05.80. White had a time of 5:29.28 to place 12th. In the 100 backstroke, White swam a 1:03.33 to place 17th. Butler placed 21st with a time of 1:11.81. Vargas was 22nd with a time of 1:13.35. In the 100 breaststroke, Michael Walkine swam a 1:06.29 to place 19th. Van Zyl was 23rd with a time of 1:06.80 and Lopez finished 35th with a time of 1:23.84. In the 100 butterfly, Collins swam a 56.56 placing 18th. Almaraz was 32nd with a time of 1:05.78. In the 100 IM, Dunsworth placed 15th with a time of 2:18.38. Walkine was 17th swimming a 2:23.68.
In the 200 free relay, the Eagles (Van Zyl, Collins, Almaraz, Jones) finished 15th swimming a 1:35.83. The Eagles team of Walkine, Butler, Dunsworth and Lopez placed 22nd swimming a 1:43.93. In the 200 medley relay, the Eagles (White, Walkine, Collins, Jones) placed 16th swimming a 1:45.42. The group of Butler, Dunsworth, Almaraz and Van Zyl swam a 1:55.72 for 21st place.
