Men's Swim Team Has Impressive 163-86 Win

The Eagles posted an impressive 163-86 win over Williams Baptist.

Clarksville, Ark.-The men's swim team posted an impressive 163-86 win over Williams Baptist University Friday night behind numerous personal and program best times.

Three swimmers broke program records during the dual - Michael Walkine (50 breast, 28.31), Josh Collins (200 fly, 2:06.39 and 50 fly, 24.36) and Nicolai Van Zyl (200 breast, 2:19.49). In other action, the team of Jacob Jones, Walkine, Collins and Van Zyl won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.01. The team of Michael Vargas, Nicolas Dunsworth, Gustavo Almaraz and Daniel Lopez placed third in the event with a time of 1:51.76. Jones took the one-mile swim with a time of 17:28.49. Vargas followed swimming a 21:21.18. In the 200 free, Van Zyl posted a time of 1:52.95 to win the race. Almaraz was third with a 2:08.08. Jaeden Miller was fifth with a time of 3:01.47. In the 50 back, Vargas placed third swimming a 30.46 and Nicolas White was fourth with a 30.51. In the 50 breaststroke, Dunsworth followed Walkine with a time of 30.69. Lopez was fifth with a 34.45. In the 200 fly, Collins won the race with his record time. Almaraz was third with a time of 2:21.64. In the 50 free, Jones swam a 22.17 to win the race. Walkine was third with a time of 23.37 and White was seventh with a time of 26.67. In the 100 free, Collins won the race with a time of 48.82. Van Zyl was second (49.92) and Lopez was fourth (55.63). In the 200 back, White placed second swimming a 2:23.95 and Vargas was third with a time of 2:29.95. In the 200 breaststroke, Van Zyl won first and set a new record, while Dunsworth (2:25.57) and Walkine (2:32.64) finished third and fourth, respectively. Jones won the 500 free swimming a 5:01.02 and Miller was third with a time of 8:19.42. In the 50 fly, Collins won first with a new record, while Lopez placed third (27.57) and Almaraz was fourth (28.64). In the 200 IM, Dunsworth placed second (2:14.63) and White was third (2:24.99). Collins, Walkine, Van Zyl and Jones teamed up for a first-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:30.60). Almaraz, Dunsworth, Vargas and Lopez finished third (1:43.49).
