Eagles Post Dominating Win Over Toppers

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's tennis team posted a resounding 7-2 win over Blue Mountain College Saturday morning.

In the doubles competition, the Eagles earned a 2-1 advantage with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. As for singles play, No. 1 player Melle van Duijn defeated John Jimenez 6-3, 6-2, and No. 2 player Jonah Martinez defeated Zak Harbin 6-1, 6-4. No. 3 player Spencer Turner competed in a tight match, and came up short in a third set tiebreaker: 3-6, 7-6 (2), 10-7. The Eagles would then conclude with wins at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6.

"I feel like the guys came out with good energy," said head coach Jeff Kutac. "I believe doubles is a strength of our team and that showed today. The guys really got off to a good start in singles and put the match away."

The Eagles will travel to play Texas Wesleyan on March 9.
