Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season With Loss

Aaron Gambrell returns a ball in the season opener against Covenant.

Clarksville, Ark.-The men's tennis team opened the 2021 spring season Saturday against NCAA III Covenant College and dropped the match 9-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Hikaru Yamaya and Aaron Gambrell lost 8-1. At No. 2 doubles, Scott Stewart and TJ Saniseng lost 8-6 while Parker Morey and Nico Castells lost 8-1 at No. 3 doubles. In No. 1 singles, Ben Luke grinded out a 6-4, 6-4 win over Yamaya. Gambrell battled to a 6-3, 1-6, 5-0 loss at No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles, Saniseng lost 6-3, 6-2. Castells dropped his No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-4. In No. 5 singles, Stewart lost 6-4, 6-1 and in No. 6 singles, Dallas Elmore lost 6-4, 6-1.

The Eagles will host John Brown University February 13 for Senior Day.
