Men Finish Fifth; Nathaneal Rankin Wins ASC Cross Country Title

THE BASICS
The University of the Ozarks men's cross country team finished fifth at the American Southwest Conference Championships Saturday fueled by a one and two finish from Nathaneal Rankin and Michael Harris. Rankin, a freshman from Plano, Texas, won the individual title posting a 26:41.6 in the 8K. It is the first individual conference title in program history. Harris, a sophomore from Elkins, Ark., finished behind Rankin with a time of 26:47.6. Rankin also became the ASC Freshman of the Year since he was the top freshman finisher. Harris was ASC Newcomer of the Year. Both were named to the All-Conference First team for finishing in the top-10. It was the highest finish as a team since 2011.

"I think this was our best race of the year. All the guys fought and we had several PR's today. I challenged them before the race to give their best effort and they did that. It was very exciting to see those guys go one, two in the conference."
