Cross Country Team Confident Going Into NCAA III Regional

Clarksville, Ark.-After a strong performance at the American Southwest Conference Championships, runners from the women's and men's cross country teams should have plenty of confidence heading into the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional November 11.

Eight runners from University of the Ozarks will compete in the NCAA III South/Southeast Regional Saturday in Newport News, Virginia.

Senior Stephanie Alderson and junior Hannah Smith will represent Ozarks in the women's 6K race. Freshman Nathaneal Rankin, freshman Dakota Fritts, freshman Luis Garcia, freshman Juan Sanchez, freshman Jaeden Miller and sophomore Michael Harris will compete in the men's 8K. The regional will be hosted by Christopher Newport University, and the race will be held at the Lee Hall Mansion course. The top-35 runners will receive All-Region honors. The regional is also a chance for individual runners to qualify for nationals November 18 in Illinois. The top two team finishers along with the top-seven individuals at the South/Southeast Regionals advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships.


The men's race starts at 10:00 a.m. CST and the women's race will begin at 11:15 a.m.

The men's team finished fifth at the ASC Championships, with Rankin and Harris finishing first and second. The women placed seventh with Smith finishing 11th and Alderson placing 34th.
