LeTourneau Softball Team Takes Game Three

Clarksville, Ark.-LeTourneau University homered twice as part of a three-run third to win game three 5-3 Wednesday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action.

Ozarks (2-4, 2-4 ASC) took a 1-0 lead in the second behind a Laken Gray RBI double. Gray's shot to left center drove in Erika Henderson, who reached base on a single. But LeTourneau (9-3, 4-2 ASC) responded with a big three-run effort in the next frame. LeTourneau's Megan Hill hit a solo home run to opposite field and then Madison Gray hit a two-run shot, again to opposite field, to give the YellowJackets a 3-1 advantage.  Ozarks mounted a rally of its own in the sixth collecting three hits and scoring two runs. With the bases loaded Gray was hit by a pitch to bring in one run. Brooke Hoffsommer singled through the left side of the infield to bring in Gray and trim the deficit to 5-3, but Ozarks was unable to generate any more runs.

Hailie Gilbert (2-2) took the loss as the starter. She struck out six in four innings.

Gilbert and Krysten Shavers each had two hits.

Ozarks will host ASC opponent Louisiana College this Friday and Saturday for a three-game series.
