Softball Team Drops Game One Of Texas Dallas Series

Clarksville, Ark.-The Texas Dallas softball team took a 9-2 win over Ozarks in the first game of the weekend's three-game American Southwest Conference series.
    
Texas Dallas (15-18, 11-16 ASC) opened the scoring with three runs in the third. Ozarks (12-25, 6-21 ASC) answered in a big way with the powerful swing of Krysten Shavers. Shavers launched her first homer of the season to pull Ozarks within 3-1. Texas Dallas added two more runs in the fourth, but Ozarks responded with one run on Beth Massey's RBI double in the bottom half of the inning. From there, Texas Dallas produced a run in the sixth and a three-run homer in the seventh and held Ozarks scoreless.
    
Ozarks had seven hits in the contest, while the Comets had nine. Shavers and Erika Henderson had two hits. Hailie Gilbert (9-14) took the loss.
    
The two teams will finish the series tomorrow with a double-header starting at noon.
    
Tomorrow's "Senior Day" ceremony will be held between games. Shawnee Sorensen and her family will be honored during the ceremony.
