Ozarks Softball Ends Season With Double-Header Split Against Texas Dallas

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O softball team won game one 8-3, but dropped game two 11-2 in Saturday's American Southwest Conference double-header against Texas Dallas.

In game one, Ozarks (13-26, 7-22 ASC) trailed 2-0, but scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to even the contest 2-2. Krysten Shavers and Erika Henderson had RBI in the frame. Ozarks then took the lead for good in the fifth when it produced four runs. Hailie Gilbert ripped a two-run double and Hannah Oler and Kaley Coppock followed with RBI singles. In the sixth, Ozarks padded its lead with two more runs to push the lead to 8-2. Ozarks had 11 hits in the contest, with Beth Massey, Madison Cluck, Bethany Mason and Shavers each collecting two hits apiece. Gilbert finished with three RBI. Oler (3-8) pitched a complete game and walked just one to receive the win.

In game two, Texas Dallas (16-19, 12-17 ASC) scored three times in the first inning, but Ozarks responded with one run in the bottom of the second. Cluck would drive the run in for Ozarks. With Ozarks trailing 5-2 after six complete innings, Texas Dallas exploded for six runs in the seventh. The top producing hit was a three-run homer by Jessica Ramos.

Ozarks had four hits in the game. Gilbert (9-15) took the loss.
