Squeeze Play Results In Game-Winning Run And Double-Header Sweep

Clarksville, Ark.-Haleigh Moore scored on a squeeze play in the bottom of the ninth inning to propel Ozarks to a 1-0 win in game two of Friday's double-header against Concordia University Texas.

The Eagles (10-25, 10-19 ASC) would win game one 3-2. In game two, pitcher Hannah Oler was brilliant allowing only one hit through six innings and finishing with a four-hitter. She did not issue a walk in nine innings of work to improve her record to 4-8. It was a defensive and pitching battle as neither team was able to generate much offense. Ozarks did load the bases in the third inning with just one out, but couldn't push a run across. The Eagles again put runners in scoring position in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings, but came up empty. Oler nearly ended the game with a deep shot to centerfield, but it was caught by Concordia (8-31, 5-24 ASC) to keep the contest going. Oler then worked a quick top of the ninth to set up a dramatic bottom half of the frame. With one out, Moore sent a hard hit ball to the center field gap that resulted in a triple. With Hailey Ostrander batting, Ozarks called for the squeeze play and executed it for the game-winning run as Moore was able to avoid the tag at the plate.

Laken Gray finished 3-for-4 and Oler went 2-for-4 to help her own cause.

In game two, Kayla Gray recorded a sacrifice fly to score Krysten Shavers in the second. Ozarks went ahead 2-0 when Oler drove in Laken Gray in the fourth. Concordia cut it to 2-1 in the top of the fifth, but Ozarks got the run back when Brooke Hoffsommer singled in Kayla Gray. Abby Mork (6-13) posted the win in a complete game. Ozarks collected five hits, all coming from different players.

Ozarks will conclude its series and season tomorrow against Concordia at 11:00 a.m. Families are encouraged to attend FanFest tomorrow starting at 10:00 a.m.
