No. 18 Comets Take Softball Series

Clarksville, Ark.-No. 18 Texas Dallas completed a three-game sweep against the Eagles with a pair of Friday wins.

Texas Dallas (29-8, 21-6 ASC) took game one 9-0 in five innings and then posted a 10-3 come-from-behind game two win to spoil Senior Day.

In game one, the Comets plated three runs in the first inning and then proceeded to hold the Eagles (6-28, 4-26 ASC) to three hits the rest of the game. The Comets had a 5-0 lead in the fourth and produced four more runs in the fifth.

In game two, the Eagles had a three-run second inning to build a 3-0 advantage. Sydney Key opened with a double, and was advanced to third base on the next batter. Kayla Gray reached on an error, and with two outs, Hailey Ostrander drove in Key with a double. Brooke Hoffsommer then reached on another error and Gray was able to cross the plate. Laken Gray capped the scoring with an RBI single. Texas Dallas responded with a run in the third and fifth to trim the deficit to 3-2. Ozarks could have had additional runs in the third inning, but right fielder Brittany Perkins robbed Rebecca Willems of a hit with a diving catch, stranding a runner at third base. The Comets added two runs in the sixth, and then scored six runs in the seventh to force the Eagles into a tough comeback situation.

The Eagles outhit the Comets 11-10. Hannah Oler went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Following the game, seniors Kayla Gray, Laken Gray and Krysten Shavers were honored as part of Senior Day.

Ozarks will end the season with a three-game series against Concordia University Texas April 21-22.
