Softball Trio Receives NFCA Academic Honors

Riki Haase, Megan Madden and Cheyanna Miller made the NFCA/Easton All-American Scholar-Athlete Team.

Clarksville, Ark.-Three University of the Ozarks softball players received honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for their academic performance, it was announced by the association this week.

The organization announced its 2017-2018 collegiate NFCA/Easton All-American Scholar-Athlete honors. To receive the All-American honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average from the previous academic year. The list of individual award winners includes Riki Haase, Megan Madden and Cheyanna Miller.  Haase, a sophomore from Argyle, Texas, is a Political Science and Biology major. Madden, a sophomore from Flower Mound, Texas, is an Accounting major and Miller, a senior from West Plains, Mo., is a Health Science and Music major.

NCAA Division III led the way with 1,600 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2017-18. NCAA Division I and Division II followed with 1,311 and 1,026 honorees.
