GAME ONE

Overview: Nationally ranked East Texas Baptist University scored three runs in the third inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit and take game three of the series 7-3 Monday. After scoring a run in the first, the Eagles rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to grab a 2-1 lead. Sydney Key singled up the middle with two outs to drive in Kieara Bryant. Jaela Martin followed with another single up the middle to score Abby Mork. But the Tigers answered with three decisive runs in the top of the third. The Eagles produced one run in the bottom of the third on Bryant's sacrifice bunt. The Tigers late two-out hits to drive in runs in the fourth and sixth inning. The Eagles got stellar defensive plays from outfielder Megan Madden and shortstop Hailey Ostrander to keep the game within striking distance. In the second inning, Madden robbed Kaitlin Hunter of a home run by stretching her glove above the left field fence to pull the ball back into to play. In the seventh, Ostrander made a leaping catch and then threw over to first base to double up the Tigers. The Eagles recorded three hits against starter Beatriz Lara, who only lasted two innings. The Eagles collected four hits in the contest.
