Clarksville, Ark. – Former University of the Ozarks softball standout Brooke Hoffsommer is playing in the professional American Softball Association (ASBA) league for Performance Lab in Alabama this summer.

Hoffsommer, a 2018 Ozarks' graduate from Alma, was picked up after the draft by Performance Lab and made her debut June 14 against Mobile USA. She has started in six games, with Performance Lab posting a 2-5 record thus far. Hoffsommer starred at Ozarks as a four-year starter and ranks among the top-10 in career runs, career doubles and career RBI. She was a three-time All-Conference player for the Eagles.

The ABSA is in its second season of competition and consists of four teams in Alabama. The league plays for six weeks during the summer.

"I appreciate the opportunity to play in the ASBA," said Hoffsommer. "I am so thankful I can continue to play the game I love. It all happened so quickly. I found out on my vacation that I was picked up by the team, so I left vacation early to report."

Hoffsommer is playing right field for Performance Lab.

"The league's competition is strong, but it has been a lot of fun," she said. "There are several players in the league that have been their conference's player of the year. The schedule is rigorous, too. At one point, we play five straight days."

Following the season, Hoffsommer will serve as a personal trainer in Fort Smith.
