Five Softball Players Achieve NFCA Academic Honors

Five University of the Ozarks softball players received honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for their academic performance, it was announced by the association this week.

Clarksville, Ark.-Five University of the Ozarks softball players received honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for their academic performance, it was announced by the association this week.

The organization announced its 2018-2019 collegiate NFCA/Easton All-American Scholar-Athlete honors. To receive the All-American honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average from the previous academic year. The list of individual award winners includes Riki Haase, Sierra Jasna, Megan Madden, Cheyanna Miller and Candace Rogers. Haase, a junior from Argyle, Texas, is a Political Science major; Jasna, a sophomore from Sallisaw, Okla., is a Biology major; Madden, a junior from Flower Mound, Texas, is an Accounting major; Miller, a 2020 graduate from West Plains, Mo., was a Health Science and Music major; and Rogers, a sophomore from Batesville, Ark., is a Biology major.

NCAA Division III led the way with 1,928 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2018-19.
