Marshall, Texas-The East Texas Baptist University women outscored the Lady Eagles 23-3 in second chance points while grabbing 62 rebounds en route to a 74-69 win Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.
The Lady Tigers (7-11, 4-11 ASC) launched 80 shots and pulled down 25 offensive rebounds to offset a poor shooting day. Ozarks (6-13, 5-11 ASC) took control of the game early, holding a 12-point lead at the midway point of the first half. But the Lady Tigers stormed back to take a 37-33 advantage into intermission.
Ashley Hipps drilled a three-pointer at the 15:32 mark of the second half to push Ozarks in front 45-43. After battling back-and-forth over the next ten minutes, East Texas Baptist eventually established a 64-55 lead with 4:51 remaining. The Lady Eagles answered with three-pointers from Brianna Moltz and Jordana Andrews on their next two offensive possessions to trim the deficit to 65-61. Hipps made a layup to pull Ozarks within 69-67 with only 1:38 left, but East Texas Baptist finished the game on a 5-2 run. The Lady Tigers shot only 33 percent from the field in the game.
Hipps made three three-pointers and scored 19 points. Taylor Farmer added 14 points and Tamara Wilkett scored 10 points.
Ozarks will host four straight home games beginning with Sul Ross State University February 6.
