Lady Eagles Suffer Season’s First Setback

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O Lady Eagles committed an uncharacteristic 27 turnovers to suffer a 78-60 loss against University of Dallas in the UD Tip-Off Classic Saturday in Irving, Texas.

The Lady Eagles (2-1) and the Lady Crusaders (2-0) each had trouble shooting from the field in the first half, as both teams hit under 30 percent from the field. However, UD was able to get to the free throw line 19 times, and made 15 of its attempts to hold a 40-20 halftime lead. Meanwhile, Ozarks went to the line just three times in the first half.

In the second half, Ozarks climbed within 59-44 on Taylor Farmer's shot, and then cut it to 62-51 on Brittanie Gragg's three-pointer with 6:10 left. Jordana Andrews followed with a layup to cut the deficit to nine points. However, the Lady Crusaders closed out the final three minutes with a 14-5 run to secure the game. Farmer and Ashley Hipps each scored 16 points. Hipps hit 4-of-5 from the three-point line. Farmer had 10 rebounds.

Ozarks will open American Southwest Conference play against Texas-Tyler November 29 in Tyler, Texas.
