U of O Women’s Basketball Team Opens Season With Loss

Clarksville, Ark.-Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) turned a close game into a 77-67 victory by outscoring the University of the Ozarks women's basketball team 26-17 in the fourth quarter.
    
SAGU (4-2) drilled four three-pointers in the fourth quarter, while Ozarks (0-1) went 0-for-6 from beyond the arc to spoil the season-opener. Both teams shot 45 percent from the field in the game, but the difference came in shots from long-range. SAGU hit 13-of-24 (54%) over four quarters, but the Eagles were 6-of-20 (30%) from the three-point line. Bryanna Moltz carried the Eagles with 16 points in the first half although SAGU held a 38-34 lead at intermission.

Both teams battled back and forth in the third quarter before SAGU established momentum in the final ten minutes. Ozarks out rebounded SAGU 39-34 and forced 22 turnovers in the game, but hit only 11-of-20 from the free throw line.

Anisha Johnson scored 11 points off the bench. Moltz shot 8-of-15 from the floor, snagged six rebounds and blocked four shots. Hailey Ostrander scored 10 points and dished out four assists.

Ozarks will host Arlington Baptist November 17 and Bacone College November 18.
