Late Women's Basketball Rally Comes Up Short

Conway, Ark.-The Hendrix College women's basketball team fought off a furious fourth quarter run to secure a 74-65 win over the Eagles Tuesday night.

Ozarks (2-2) put itself in a hole early trailing 42-24 at halftime. The Eagles hit just 8-of-30 (26%) from the field in the first half. The trend continued in the third quarter as the Hendrix (2-2) lead ballooned to 27 points with less than three minutes left in the quarter. But the game changed in the fourth quarter with Ozarks hitting 10-of-18 (55%) from the floor while holding the Warriors to only two field goals. The Eagles started the quarter on a 14-4 run to trim the deficit to 66-51. Bryanna Moltz had a pair of buckets and Hailey Ostrander highlighted the run with two shots from long-range.  Hendrix would hit its final field goal of the game with 6:19 left in the fourth quarter, while Ozarks kept scoring. Two free throws by Ostrander got it to single digits, and an Anisha Johnson free throw cut it to seven points with less than two minutes remaining. The Warriors did hit three free throws to extend the lead. But Moltz hit a three-pointer and a jumper to pull Ozarks within 71-65 with only 33 seconds left.  Hendrix then made three free throws down the stretch to secure the game.

Moltz finished with 20 points and Ostrander had 15 points.

Ozarks will travel to Colorado Springs to play in the Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic November 25-26.
