THE BASICS
The Eagles led 16-11 after the first quarter and trailed by only one point at halftime, but couldn't regain the lead in the third or fourth quarter falling to Hendrix 73-63 Tuesday night. The Eagles made a strong run early in the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to 52-49 behind a three-pointer from Savannah Kate Smith and a jumper by Zhajani Wright. But the Eagles would score just two points over the next four minutes as Hendrix built a 63-51 lead with less than five minutes to play. The Eagles led the entire first and second quarter until Jayla King drilled a jumper as the buzzer sounded to give Hendrix a 29-28 halftime advantage. The Eagles shot 40 percent from the field and 58 percent from the free throw line. Hendrix hit 44 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the free throw line. Hailey Ostrander scored 20 points to lead the Eagles. Vinessa Daniel had 31 points, including 18 in the final quarter.
