Savannah Kate Smith Named ASC Player of the Week

University of the Ozarks senior guard Savannah Kate Smith was named the American Southwest Conference (ASC) women?s basketball co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks senior guard Savannah Kate Smith was named the American Southwest Conference (ASC) women's basketball East Division co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Smith, a native of Perryville, Ark., led the Eagles to a 2-0 start in conference play by averaging 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. She scored 14 points in Monday's 72-60 win over McMurry, then helped Ozarks overcome a 15-point third quarter deficit for an 80-72 victory over Hardin-Simmons on Wednesday. Smith scored 10 points in the fourth, including a three-pointer with 2:02 remaining to give the Eagles the lead for good. She finished with 14 points, six assists and five steals against the Cowgirls.

Through nine games, Smith is averaging 11.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. She has reached double figures in scoring the last four games.

Ozarks (4-5, 2-0 ASC) will travel to Texas for matches against Mary Hardin-Baylor and Concordia University Texas this week.
