Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks junior forward Delanei Stephens was named to the D3Hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week, it was announced Tuesday (January 8).
The honor follows her American Southwest Conference Player of the Week award she received earlier in the week. Stephens, from Coal Hill, Ark., Stephens recorded two straight double-doubles while leading the Eagles to a 2-0 record and the program's best conference start since the 2005-06 season. Stephens had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists against Howard Payne. Stephens wrapped up the week with a 27-point, 14-rebound performance against Sul Ross State. Stephens joined Shayne Smith from Monmouth, Kathleen Wilson from Centre, Maddie Hasson from Bowdoin and Payton Ouimette from Babson on the five-player team.
For the season, Stephens is averaging 11.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. The Eagles will travel to Belhaven and Louisiana College this week.
