THE BASICS
The Eagles lost a heart-breaker 61-59 on a jump shot in the final seconds against Belhaven Thursday night in Mississippi. Savannah Kate Smith drilled a three-pointer with 21 seconds left to cut the deficit to 58-57. Belhaven then hit one of two free throws with 20 seconds left to give the Eagles another offensive possession. Belhaven fouled Hailey Ostrander, who sank both free throws to tie it 59-59.
