THE BASICS
The nationally-ranked East Texas Baptist University Tigers (No. 15) cruised past the Eagles 80-56 Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action. The Tigers had a strong first and fourth quarter to earn the win. The Tigers held a 28-15 lead after the first quarter. The Eagles played within striking distance in the second quarter, but never took the lead. The Eagles fought back and pulled within 49-37 in the third quarter on a Savannah Kate Smith shot, but the Tigers outscored the Eagles 26-16 in the final quarter. Diamond Goodwyn led the Eagles with 13 points. The Eagles hit just two shots from the three-point line, while East Texas Baptist made ten.
