Excitement surrounds the program with key pieces already in place and a talented incoming class. Gardner comes to Ozarks after an illustrious wrestling career himself and has set high goals for the program on and off the mat. In just its third year of existence, the program has a solid foundation in place with dedicated returners. Montre Blade, Ny'Trell Dean and Siaygnoun Nhamnhouane have provided the Eagles with the leadership needed in the preseason, according to Gardner.

"I've been real excited by their efforts," said Gardner. "They are committed to be the best they can be in the classroom and on the mat. They have shown good leadership. I'm real pleased with the way those three have taken on leadership roles and have contributed to this program."

The Eagles have also gained a large influx of newcomers to draw from. On the roster, there are 22 new wrestlers.

"They have brought in a really good energy," said Gardner. "I want to see how the new guys adjust to collegiate wrestling."

Ozarks will open the season in the Oklahoma City University Open November 6.
