Women’s Soccer Team Opens 2016 Season With 4-0 Win

Clarksville, Ark.-The women's soccer team scored three times in the second half to fuel a 4-0 victory over Central Baptist College Thursday in its season-opener.

Ozarks (1-0-0) dominated the match from the start, maintaining possession of the ball the majority of the time. Ozarks took 12 first half shots, but didn't connect until the 40th minute. Frances Adams ripped one past the keeper to give Ozarks a 1-0 lead. Maggie Johnson received the assist.

Central Baptist (0-3-0) had trouble keeping up in the second half as it yielded 17 shots from the Eagles' offense. The Eagles started strong in the second half, scoring within the first three minutes. Freshman Micaela Winters took a ball from Tiffany Robinson to score her first collegiate goal. With Ozarks on the attack, Falon Hanson added a goal in the 69th minute. Cristin Connor had the assist. The final goal of the match came in the 78th minute when Madison Chaney found the back of the net. Catherine Zamora received the assist.

Ozarks totaled 29 shots and did not allow a Central Baptist shot attempt.

Megan Bradford and Kiara Henry combined for the shutout in goal for Ozarks.

Ozarks will host Fontbonne University Friday at 5:00 p.m.
