Women's Tennis Team Wins ASC-Opener 8-1

The University of the Ozarks women's tennis team opened American Southwest Conference play with a 8-1 win over Louisiana College Saturday.

Alexandria, La.-The University of the Ozarks women's tennis team opened American Southwest Conference play with a 8-1 win over Louisiana College Saturday.

The Eagles (5-6, 1-0 ASC) swept doubles, led by Nadia Madronal and Karlee Hart at the No. 1 position. The duo cruised past Emma Hixson and Mckenna Raines 8-0. At the No. 2 position, Alexandria Corona and Kaitlin Gutierrez won 8-0 and Anna Ryan teamed with Kirsten Endicott at the No. 3 position to also win 8-0. At No. 1 singles, Madronal topped her opponent 6-1, 6-1. Hart easily won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Corona was also impressive winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot. Gutierrez took a 6-0, 6-0- win at the No. 4 spot and Ryan won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 position. Louisiana College falls to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the ASC.

The Eagles will take on Centenary College March 31.
