Abilene, Texas –The University of the Ozarks women's tennis team played three matches against conference opponents over the weekend in Abilene, Texas.
The Eagles played Hardin-Simmons University, Howard Payne University and McMurry University in matches that do not count towards their conference record. The Eagles took an 9-0 win against Howard Payne, but dropped their matches against Hardin-Simmons (9-0) and McMurry (6-0).
In singles play against Howard Payne, Angelica Garcia defeated Jessenia Ureste 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1. At No. 2, Lexy Corona topped Brittany Sutton 3-6, 7-6 (10-7). Kaitlin Gutierrez defeated Zaylie Sanchez 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. At the No. 4 position, Abrian Johnson defeated Camille Quinones 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 5 spot, Anna Ryan topped Alexis Sanchez 6-0, 6-0 and at the No. 6 position Lea Terrell defeated Kaitlyn Drewniok 6-1, 6-0. The Eagles were equally impressive in doubles play. Karlee Hart and Garcia took a 8-5 win against Jessenia Ureste and Zaylie Sanchez at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot, Gutierrez and Corona defeated Brittany Sutton and Camille Quinones 8-0. Johnson and Ryan took a 8-0 win over Alexis Sanchez and Kaitlyn Drewniok in the No. 3 spot.
