U of O Announces $6.2 Million Softball And Baseball Complex
Clarksville, Ark. -- University of the Ozarks has announced a $6.2 million project to construct new softball and baseball stadiums on its campus. The two facilities are targeted for completion in early 2024, in time for regular season play. They represent the second phase of a concerted effort by the University to upgrade all its varsity and intramural athletics facilities.

Tigers Edge Eagles For The Second Straight Day
Marshall, Texas-For the second straight day, East Texas Baptist University edged the Eagles to complete a three-game sweep. The Eagles end the season after a narrow 6-5 loss in game three of the series. The Eagles went into the ninth inning trailing 4-2, but plated three runs to hold a 5-4 advantage. That inning, Ethan Cash and Kagen Kennedy reached base with no outs. Cash would score on a passed ball. Bryce Cagle then walked and Cole Clark was hit by a pitch to load the bases. After a strikeout, Jackson Baker had a clutch single to drive in Kennedy. From there, the Tigers recorded back-to-back strikeouts. The Tigers got the first two batters on base in the bottom of the ninth and then Austin Barry delivered a two-run single to push across the game-winning run. The Eagles led 2-1 after five complete innings, but the Tigers would even the game in the sixth and take a two-run advantage in the eighth. The Eagles outhit the Tigers 10-9.

East Texas Baptist Baseball Takes Friday DH
Marshall, Texas-The Eagles seventh inning rally fell short as East Texas Baptist University took game one 4-3 on Friday. The Eagles trailed 4-2 heading into the final inning and rallied for one run behind an RBI single from Ethan Cash. The Eagles loaded with bases on an error, a single and a walk with no outs. The Tigers then forced a fly out for the first out. After Cash’s single, the Tigers got a strikeout and a groundout to end the game. The Tigers held a 3-0 lead until the fifth. Cole Clark doubled in Taber Childs for the first run. The Eagles generated another run in the sixth on a Childs solo home run to make it 3-2. The Tigers responded with a run in the bottom half of the sixth. The Eagles recorded eight hits, while the Tigers had six. Childs had two of the eight hits.

Cagle's Clutch Hit Pushes Across Game-Winning Run On Senior Day
Clarksville, Ark.-Bryce Cagle’s double in the bottom of the 11th inning pushed across the game-winning run to cap a wild 13-12 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Senior Day. Brooks Boshers hustled out an infield grounder to lead off the bottom of the 11th and ignite the Eagles’ bench and large contingent of fans. A sacrifice bunt from Ethan Cash advanced Boshers to second base. Cagle then sent a shot to left field in which the left fielder dove and came up short on the ball allowing Boshers to score the game-winner. After a scoreless tenth, the Crusaders opened the eleventh with back-to-back singles and then bunted both over into scoring position. Freshman relief pitcher Isaiah Lemke recorded a huge strikeout to keep the runners at second and third. With two outs, Lemke calmly forced an easy groundout to end the threat. The Crusaders scored four runs in the second inning and one run in the third to hold a 5-0 lead. The Eagles responded in the third with two runs making it 5-2. The Crusaders got both runs back in the fourth with a two-run homer and then some more to bring the lead back to 8-2. In the fifth, the Eagles exploded for eight runs on eight hits. The Eagles recorded back-to-back singles and then loaded the bases with a walk. Jackson Baker delivered an infield single to score one and Dru Didway followed with an RBI single. With two outs, Boshers ripped a single to the right side to score another run. Cash then slugged a bases clearing double to tie the game 8-8. Cagle cranked out a two-run homer to put the Eagles ahead 10-8. But the Crusaders answered with two runs to even the score in the top of the sixth. In the seventh with runners at first and third, Cole Clark laced a double to left field to score one and the Eagles led 11-10. The back-and-forth game continued in the eighth as the Crusaders tied the game with a run. Baker led off the bottom of the eighth with a triple to right field. Taber Childs followed with an RBI single to make it 12-11. The Crusaders wouldn’t go away and led off the ninth with a double. After pushing that runner over to third base, the Crusaders tied the game with a single. In the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles got a runner on board, but couldn’t knock him in. Cagle also homered and finished with three RBI and three hits. Lemke received the win tossing the final three and one-third innings. He struck out four and did not issue a walk. The Eagles six seniors – Rennie Arjona, Brooks Boshers, Dru Didway, Kagen Kennedy, Dylan McDonald and Josh Ropple – were honored prior to the game as part of a Senior Day Celebration Ceremony.

Eagles Pound Out 21 Hits In Game Two Win
Clarksville, Ark.-Mary Hardin-Baylor had a four-run fifth inning and then held off the Eagles late to pick up a 7-6 win in game one Friday. Mary Hardin-Baylor opened the game with three runs in the first, but the Eagles hit back-to-back home runs to bring the score to 3-2. Jackson Baker and Dru Didway homered for the Eagles. In the second, Nicholas Bennett doubled and Kagen Kennedy ripped a single to score Bennett from second base. In the third, Didway did more damage with an RBI double to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead. Ethan Cash had an RBI ground out in the inning and the Eagles ended three complete innings with a 5-3 advantage. The Crusaders came back and scored four runs in the top of the fifth to gain a 7-5 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, Isaac Price had a single down the left field line. Jackson Baker hit a high fly ball to left center that landed just out of the reach of the left fielder for another base runner. Didway followed with slicing single to left field to score one and bring the deficit to 7-6. Cash drew a walk to load the bases with two outs. But the Crusaders got a strikeout to end the game. The Eagles outhit the Crusaders 12-7, but committed four errors. Baker went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Didway had three RBI.

Hendrix Baseball Rallies Past Eagles
Conway, Ark.-Hendrix College won its fourth game of the season against the Eagles with a two-run ninth inning for a 11-10 win Tuesday night. Heading into the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles led 10-9 only to have Hendrix rally for the win. Hendrix recorded a single followed by a double to tie the game. A sacrifice bunt advanced a runner to third base and the Warriors would then score the game-winning run on a wild pitch. The Eagles had plenty of offense in the game recording 15 hits. In the third, Jackson Baker drove in a run with a double. Trailing 4-2, the Eagles mounted a rally in the sixth scoring four runs. Ethan Cash doubled in a run, Kagen Kennedy singled in a run and Cole Clark doubled in two runs to push the Eagles to a 6-4 lead. The Warriors quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning with four runs. The Eagles generated a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth. Clark’s RBI single in the ninth gave the Eagles a 10-9 lead.

Eagles Secure Game Three Win Against Howard Payne
Brownwood, Texas-The Eagles salvaged the series against Howard Payne University with a come-from-behind 11-7 game three win on Saturday. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the second on an Ethan Cash RBI single and a Brice Cagle sacrifice fly. But Howard Payne took the lead back in the fourth with four runs. The Eagles responded in the next inning with two runs, but still trailed 5-4. Isaac Price had a sacrifice fly and Jackson Baker had an RBI single in the fifth. The Eagles took command of the game with a four-run seventh. Cash capped the frame with a two-run single. The Eagles had another productive inning in the top of the ninth scoring three runs. Highlighting the inning was a two-run single by Cagle. Isaac Pelts received the win as the starter and went six innings. Isaiah Lemke notched the save in relief by tossing the final three innings. Cagle went 3-for-3 with three RBI at the plate. Dru Didway also had a three-hit game. Cash drove in three runs.

Eagles Suffer Double-Header Setback Against Howard Payne
Brownwood, Texas-Howard Payne University opened the weekend series with ten runs in the first inning and the Eagles never recovered as the Yellow Jackets took a 20-6 game one win. Cole Clark and Dru Didway had RBI in the second inning and Juan Munoz had an RBI in the third to total four runs, but the Yellow Jackets plated seven runs in the bottom of the third to put the game away. Brice Cagle and Clark would later have RBI in the fifth inning. Howard Payne recorded 19 hits and the Eagles committed six errors. Clark and Munoz finished 3-for-4 at the plate.

Warriors Overcome Deficit, Score Five Runs In The Ninth For Win
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles let a 9-5 lead slip away in the ninth inning as Hendrix College pulled out a 10-9 win Tuesday afternoon. After the Eagles scored three runs on a bases clearing double from Taber Childs, the Eagles headed into the ninth to secure the game. However, Hendrix battled to load the bases with one out. From there, the Warriors were hit by a pitch and then flew out. With two outs, the Warriors didn’t give up as they drew another bases loaded walk to bring the score to 9-7. The Warriors delivered a bases clearing double of their own to move ahead. The Eagles built a 4-1 lead after two innings of play. In the sixth, Jackson Baker hit a two-run homer. The Eagles outhit the Warriors 15-8. Dru Didway, Brooks Boshers and Childs each went 3-for-5.

Cagle Pushes Across Game-Winning Run
Clarksville, Ark.-Brice Cagle knocked in the game-winning run with a ninth inning sacrifice fly to push the Eagles to a 8-7 victory over Concordia University Texas in game three. Ethan Cash ripped a two-strike single to the outfield to lead off the bottom of the ninth. Dru Didway hit one down the right field line to put runners at the corners. Taber Childs pushed across the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly. With one out, Brooks Boshers had a clutch double to put two runners in scoring position. Miguel Fernandez was intentionally walked to load the bases. That brought to the plate Cagle, who sent a shot to centerfield for the game-winning sacrifice fly. Isaac Pelts worked a complete game for the Eagles as he threw 124 pitches. The right-hander got stronger as the game went on allowing only one hit in the final three innings. The Eagles took advantage of a rare error and scored three runs in the first frame. With two outs, Didway lofted a ball to centerfield, but it was dropped to allow Jackson Baker to score from second. Childs then promptly hit a two-run homer. But Concordia had back-to-back doubles to score twice and pull within 3-2. In the bottom half of the third, Boshers singled in Didway from second. Concordia ripped a two-run double to even the score 4-4 in the fourth. A two-out RBI single gave Concordia a 5-4 lead. The Eagles responded in the bottom half of the inning with two straight hits. Baker then had a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position, but the Tornados got a lineout and a pop out to end the threat. The Eagles again came back and scored one run with an RBI double from Cagle to tie the game 5-5 after five innings. The back-and-forth game continued the next inning as Concordia took a 7-5 advantage. Pelts retired the side in the top of the seventh. Didway was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Childs then drew a walk. Boshers was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Fernandez then grounded out to score one and made it 7-6. Pelts worked his way out of a jam in the top of the eighth with a double play ball. Concordia got three straight outs in the bottom of the eighth. Pelts got two quick outs in the ninth and then hit a batter and followed with a walk. Pelts worked a fly out to end the threat. Pelts received his second win of the season after fanning four in nine innings. Boshers had a three-hit game to lead the Eagles, while Childs drove in three runs.

Concordia Baseball Takes Two On Thursday
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles made a rally late in the game, but came up short 11-8 against Concordia University Texas in game one Thursday. Concordia plated two runs in the first inning to take an early lead. In the third, the Eagles loaded the bases with one out, and Dru Didway had a sacrifice fly to score one. With two outs, the Tornados were able to catch the runner at third attempting to steal home. The Tornados would then load the bases with two outs in the fourth and produced a bases clearing double to moved ahead 9-1. Trailing 10-1 in the fifth, the Eagles had back-to-back singles and Isaac Price loaded the bases with a walk. A wild pitch and an error allowed two runs to score, making it 10-3. Childs later followed with a walk. The Eagles scored again on a wild pitch for the fourth run. Miguel Fernandez ripped a RBI double in the sixth. Jackson Baker, with two runners in scoring position, drew a walk to load the bases. The Eagles scored on a passed ball to make it 10-6. With one out, Didway followed with an RBI single in the same inning. The Tornados halted the rally with a double play ball. In the ninth, Lane Carosh cranked out a solo home run to bring the Eagles within 11-8. But that would be all for the Eagles. Price and Boshers each had two hits. Didway drove in two runs.

Lobos Rally In Bottom Of The Ninth
Alpine, Texas-Sul Ross State University stormed back in the bottom of the ninth to win 9-8 in game three of the series against the Eagles Saturday. Trailing 7-4 heading into the ninth, the Eagles rallied for four runs to tie the contest. In the ninth, Josh Ropple hit a three-run homer to ignite the Eagles. Taber Childers later scored the go-ahead run on Brice Cagle’s fielder’s choice. But in the bottom half of the frame, Sul Ross recorded three straight hits – a double, triple and single – to generate the game-tying and game-winning runs. Isaac Price hit a two-run homer in the third to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Ethan Cash had a sacrifice RBI in the fifth and Dru Didway had an RBI double in the seventh to push the Eagles in front 4-2. Price led the Eagles with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate. He also drove in three runs and scored three runs. Didway and Cash each had two hits.

Ropple Tosses Another Complete Game
Alpine, Texas.-Josh Ropple threw his second consecutive complete game to lead the Eagles to a 2-1 win over Sul Ross State in game one Friday. Ropple was again brilliant on the mound tossing seven innings and striking out five while walking only one. The Eagles gave Ropple an early run to work with as Ethan Cash singled in Jackson Baker in the first frame. Sul Ross answered in the second with a run to even the contest, 1-1. But the Lobos were unable to score again against Ropple. Ropple retired the side in the fifth and sixth innings, while allowing only one runner in the seventh. He ended the game on a strikeout. Isaac Price provided an insurance run in the fifth inning on a solo home run. Ropple was charged with one earned run to receive his third win of the season.

Hendrix College Takes Win On Tuesday
Clarksville, Ark.-Hendrix College used a nine-run fourth inning to post a 17-5 win over the Eagles Tuesday afternoon. Hendrix scored twice in the first and third innings and then put the game out of reach in the fourth with nine runs on eight hits. Dru Didway and Kagen Kennedy each homered for the Eagles, but it was too late. The Eagles scored four in the fifth inning to make it 16-5. The Eagles collected ten hits, with Didway, Kennedy and Isaac Price each recording two hits apiece.

McMurry Wins Series With 9-7 Win
Clarksville, Ark.-McMurry University won game three 9-7 to win the series againist the Eagles. Trailing 5-0, the Eagles rallied in the third with back-to-back RBI doubles from Isaac Price and Jackson Baker. Dru Didway then received an RBI on a grounder to third base to trim the deficit to 5-3. The Eagles loaded the bases in the fourth with one out and scratched across one run to move within 5-4. In the fifth, McMurry loaded the bases with two outs, but Jake Estrada got the third out with an infield pop out. In the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles loaded the bases with two outs, but came up empty. In the sixth, the War Hawks added two runs to make it 7-4. In the sixth, Didway drove in Baker for the Eagles fifth run. McMurry then got back-to-back outstanding defensive plays - a diving catch by the right fielder and a diving stop from the second baseman - to keep the Eagles from scoring any more runs. After McMurry scored twice in the seventh, the Eagles got base runners again only to strand both. The Eagles once again got runners this time in the eighth inning. With the bases loaded with one out, Taber Childs drew a walk to make it 9-6. Josh Ropple recorded a sacrifice fly to score one. But that would be it for the Eagles. Baker, Didway, Munoz and Cagle had two hits apiece. Didway drove in two runs.

Josh Ropple Tosses Complete Game In Eagles Win
Clarksville, Ark.-McMurry University fought off a strong pitching performance from Isaac Pelts to top the Eagles 5-3 in game one. In the first, Cole Clark was hit by a pitch and then Isaac Price bunted him over to second. Jackson Baker followed with a single through the right side. With Clark at third, Dru Didway grounded a ball to the middle infield to push across a run. In the second, Pelts got a double play ball for two quick outs. McMurry would load the bases, but Pelts got out of the jam with a strikeout. In the third, Pelts retired the side with three strikeouts. In the fourth, McMurry took the lead, 3-2, on a homer. Juan Munoz matched the War Hawks with a solo home run to even the score 3-3 in the fourth. McMurry took the lead back in the top of the fifth, 4-3, and then added a solo home run in the seventh to make it 5-3. Munoz singled up the middle to begin the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Brice Cagle drew a walk and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. McMurry inserted a new pitcher to face Taber Childs and he immediately got a pop out. McMurry then forced a groundout to end the game. Munoz went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles.

Comets Win Series With High-Scoring Game Three
Clarksville, Ark.-The UT Dallas Comets exploded for 23 runs in game three to win the series against the Eagles. The Comets won Sunday’s rubber match 23-4. The Comets opened game three with a statement, scoring eight runs off four hits, two of which were home runs. The Eagles plated a run in the first, second, third and fourth inning, but it wouldn’t nearly be enough as the Comets added 11 runs in the top of the fifth to put the game out of reach. The Comets outhit the Eagles 18-5. Kagen Kennedy went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Eagles.

Cash's Dramatic Grand Slam Lifts Eagles In Game One
Clarksville, Ark.- Ethan Cash blasted a dramatic grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete a 8-6 come-from-behind win against UT Dallas in game one Saturday. Isaac Price, Jackson Baker and Dru Didway had back-to-back-to-back singles setting the stage for Cash’s clutch hit. Cash delivered a shot with a full count over the right field fence to send the Eagles into a March Madness type frenzy. The Comets led 4-0 after the three innings, but Dru Didway singled in a run in the fourth to make it 4-1. In the fifth, Price and Baker had RBI singles to make it 4-3. The next inning, Kagen Kennedy had a sacrifice fly to bring the Eagles within 6-4. A combined three home runs were hit in the game as windy conditions aided the long balls. Price went 3-for-4 while Cash had a team-best four RBI. Starting pitcher Isaac Pelts threw a complete game to receive the win. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk.

Eagles Drop Two In Millington
Millington, Tenn.- The Eagles opened their double-header in Millington, Tennessee, with a 9-1 loss against NCAA III Alfred State University. Alfred State scored the game’s first run to lead 1-0 in the first inning. Alfred State then added two runs in the second to grab a 3-0 advantage. Taber Childs hit a solo home run in the fifth to make it 3-1. Alfred State responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning and then plated four runs in the seventh to take control of the game. The Eagles generated five hits in the game.

Ropple Throws Complete Game In 10-4 Win
Abilene, Texas- Josh Ropple threw a complete game to help the Eagles earn a 10-4 win and salvage its series against Hardin-Simmons University on Sunday. Ropple shut out the Cowboys for 5.1 innings before allowing a run. He allowed only two hits through five complete innings. The Eagles’ offense provided Ropple plenty to work with as eight position players in the lineup recorded a hit. Leading 1-0, the Eagles scored twice in the fourth on Taber Childs and Juan Munoz RBI singles. Jackson Baker added to the lead with a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Brooks Boshers ripped a single to center field to push across two more runs. Hardin-Simmons eventually scored in the sixth inning, but still trailed 6-2. In the ninth, Cole Clark blasted a lead off home run and Dru Didway cranked out a three-run homer to cushion the lead. Ropple then made quick work of the Cowboys in the bottom of the ninth forcing a foul out, strikeout and an infield pop out. Ropple struck out four in his outing. Juan Munoz went 4-for-5 with two RBI. Clark went 3-for-4 and Baker, Ethan Cash and Childs each had two hits.

Abilene, Texas- Hardin-Simmons University broke a 1-1 tie with the game-winning run in the final inning of play to edge the Eagles 2-1 in game one Saturday. Dru Didway blasted a solo home run in the second frame to put the Eagles in front 1-0. Hardin-Simmons later scored on an error with two outs in the fifth. The Eagles had seven hits in the contest, with Cole Clark finishing 3-for-4. The Cowboys recorded eight hits.

LeTourneau Takes Game Three 13-7
Clarksville, Ark.- LeTourneau University scored a combined eight runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to pull away for a 13-7 win in game three against the Eagles. Brice Cagle ripped a two-run double to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth. LeTourneau hit a clutch two-out double to drive in two runs in the fifth to take a 4-3 advantage. Cagle again came through in the sixth with the bases loaded hitting a double to right centerfield to score two. Still trailing 6-5 with one out and two runners in scoring position, pitcher Dalton Pickett got a lineout and then a flyout. The runner at third base left early attempting to score so LeTourneau escaped the inning with a lead. LeTourneau then added three runs, but Dru Didway ripped an RBI double to make it 9-6. The Eagles went scoreless in the eighth. LeTourneau tacked on four runs in the top of the ninth to take a 13-6 lead. Didway went 4-for-5 with three RBI. Ethan Cash went 3-for-5 and Cagle went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Estrada Performance, Eagle Offense Lead To Double-Header Split
Clarksville, Ark.- LeTourneau University plated three runs in the first inning and then hit a grand slam in the fifth to take a 13-8 game one win. With the Eagles trailing 3-0, Jackson Baker smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. But the YellowJackets scored six times in the fifth to take a 9-2 lead. Bears Complete Sweep Over Eagles
Clarksville, Ark.-Washington University competed a three-game sweep against the Eagles with a 9-7 win in extra innings on Sunday. With the Eagles trailing 7-5, Jackson Baker blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extras. But in the tenth, the Bears scored on a two-run single. The Eagles loaded the bases in the bottom of the tenth with two outs, but were unable to generate the game-winner. The Bears opened the game with a 6-0 lead before the Eagles scored. The Eagles rallied for three runs in the fifth. Both teams scored a run in the seventh and the Bears still led 7-5. The Eagles had 12 hits, with four players recording four hits each.

Eagles Drop Saturday Home Double-Header
Clarksville, Ark.-Washington University plated four runs in the top of the seventh to post a 10-1 game one win over the Eagles Saturday. The Eagles scored first on a sacrifice fly from Jackson Baker in the second inning. The Eagles held a 1-0 lead until the fourth inning after the Bears scored twice in the top half. From there, the Bears added two runs in the sixth and then had a big four-run seventh inning to lead 8-1. The Bears pounded out 21 hits, while the Eagles recorded four. Isaac Price went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Eagles.

Estrada Impresses In Debut
Shreveport, La.-Starting pitcher Jake Estrada threw a complete game with six strikeouts to push the Eagles past Centenary 5-2 in game one on Saturday. Estrada got help from the offense with a run in the second and four runs in the third. Jake Dempsey had an RBI single in the second to put the Eagles ahead 1-0. In the third, Isaac Price, Baker and Kagen Kennedy had RBI to push the lead to 5-0. In all, the Eagles recorded 11 hits. Price finished the game 3-for-4 to lead the Eagles. Estrada was not charged with an earned run and did not issue a walk in his collegiate debut.

Eagles Struggle In Season-Opener
Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks baseball team opened the season against Hendrix College in Conway Tuesday and suffered a 22-5 loss. The Warriors scored five runs in the first frame. The Eagles got two runs back in the second inning and another in the third. The Eagles made it 5-4 in the top of the fourth. But Hendrix scored four times in the bottom half of the fourth and then never let the Eagles back into the game. The Warriors would explode for 12 runs in the seventh on ten hits. The Warriors recorded 18 hits. The Eagles had nine hits, but committed three errors. Brice Cagle went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles.

Eagles Eliminated From Playoff Spot After 8-7 Loss
Clarksville, Ark.-LeTourneau University knocked the Eagles out of a playoff spot with a dramatic 8-7 win on Saturday. The loss ends the season for the Eagles (13-25, 12-18 ASC), while LeTourneau advances to the post-season. The Eagles had chances in the bottom of the ninth with two runners on base, but the Yellow Jackets found a way to get out of the jam and clinch the playoff spot. Trey Vance cranked out a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Eagles an early lead. Freshman left-handed pitcher Nicholas Bennett was inserted with no outs in the top of the fourth after LeTourneau scored two runs. Bennett did his job and did not allow a run to escape the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles stranded a pair of runners in scoring position. Bennett came through again in the fifth as two were in scoring position, but the freshman fanned Devin Greaff to get the third out and end the threat. The Eagles rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth behind three consecutive RBI singles from Dru Didway, Ben Cross and Luke Morrison. Tied 5-5, Bennett gave up a three-run homer in the sixth. But the Eagles scratched across a run with an RBI single and an error to bring it to 8-7 after seven complete innings. With runners on first and second and no outs, Blake Benson was inserted in the top of the ninth. Benson did his job and stranded each runner to give the Eagles a chance. However, LeTourneau stranded the Eagle runners in the ninth. Didway and Morrison had three hits.

Eagles Split Friday Double-Header
Clarksville, Ark.-Rennie Arjona blasted a grand slam and starting pitcher Blake Benson threw a four-hitter in a 18-1 blowout win against LeTourneau University in game one Friday. The Eagles pounded out 16 hits, including five extra base hits in the seven inning game. The Eagles scored eight runs in the first frame on five hits. The Eagles generated four runs and then Arjona launched a home run with the bases loaded to put the home team in front 8-0. Ben Cross had an RBI in the second and Trey Vance had a two-run single in the third. In the fourth, the Eagles scored five runs on four hits. William Shumate had a bases loaded walk for the first run. An error allowed another run to cross the plate and Vance singled in another. Alex Ray and Dru Didway had back-to-back RBI singles to give the Eagles a 16-0 lead. Cross would also homer in the fifth. LeTourneau broke the scoreless streak in the sixth inning with a two-out RBI double. Arjona finished 3-for-5 with five RBI and three runs. Vance went 3-for-5 with four RBI. Benson struck out four and did not issue a walk over five innings. He did not allow a run.

Blazers Walk-Off Homer Wins Baseball Series
Clinton, Miss.-Belhaven University’s Nick Lucido hit a walk-off home run to propel the Blazers to a 15-13 win over the Eagles Saturday. The Blazers trailed by as many as six runs in the contest. In the second, Ben Cross hammered a two-run homer to even the score at 2-2. Belhaven responded with three runs in the second to take the lead. But the Eagles generated five runs in the third on six hits. Dru Didway and Luke Morrison each had doubles to highlight the frame. After five complete innings, the Eagles led 8-7 and then built a 13-7 advantage after a big sixth inning. Cross blasted his second home run of the game to highlight the inning. After that, the Eagles wouldn’t score again and the Blazers chipped away to position themselves for the come-from-behind victory. Lucido’s homer came with two runners on base. Rennie Arjona, Didway and Cross each had three hits. Didway drove in four and Arjona scored three runs.

Benson Has Strong Outing In Game One Win
Clinton, Miss.-Blake Benson spun a seven-hitter and the Eagles won their fourth game in a row taking a 7-2 victory over Belhaven University Friday in game one. The Blazers plated both runs in the first against Benson, but the left-hander settled in and allowed only four hits after that. The Eagles had a big third inning scoring four runs on three hits. Trey Vance started the scoring with a sacrifice fly to drive in one run. Alex Ray and Dru Didway singled in runs, while Luke Morrison recorded an RBI with a sacrifice fly. The Eagles gave Benson more run support in the fifth as Didway had an RBI single. As Benson cruised threw the final six innings, the Eagles generated two runs in the sixth after a Vance two-run single. Ray went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Benson went seven innings with six strikeouts and one walk.

Baseball Team Sweeps Sul Ross State
Clarksville, Ark.-Sam Silvestri and Dru Didway blasted home runs and Grant Cross spun a four-hitter as the Eagles completed a three-game sweep against Sul Ross State University Friday with a 13-6 win. With a 1-0 lead, Didway cranked out a three-run homer in the second for a 4-0 advantage. In the next inning, Silvestri hit a two-run homer to give the Eagles a 6-3 lead. In the fourth, Silvestri, Kagen Kennedy and Josh Ropple had RBI’s. Meanwhile, Cross was effectively getting the Lobos out with off-speed pitches. Didway had another RBI single in the fifth. Nicholas Bennett followed with an RBI and Kennedy had an RBI triple. The Eagles pounded out 13 hits in the game. Five Eagles had multiple-hit games. Didway finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. Cross worked 6.2 innings and gave up four hits while striking out three. Cross threw 111 pitches in the win.

Eagles Notch Double-Header Sweep
Clarksville, Ark.-Rennie Arjona and Dru Didway each homered and drove in four runs while starting pitcher Blake Benson threw a complete game as the Eagles won 15-8 against Sul Ross State University Thursday. Didway did part of his damage in the first inning with a three-run homer. The Eagles then added five runs in the second inning behind a Trey Vance two-run double, a Didway RBI single, a Ben Cross RBI single and a Sul Ross State error. Sul Ross would make it 8-4 in the third, but the Eagles responded with three runs in the fourth on a Kagen Kennedy two-run single and a sacrifice fly from Arjona. The Lobos came back with three runs in the fifth. However, Josh Ropple ripped an RBI single in the sixth. Arjona then blasted a three-run shot to put the game away. Meanwhile, Benson would fan nine in seven innings. In addition to Arjona and Didway, Luke Morrison and Kennedy had three hits apiece.

Richardson, Texas-The nationally-ranked Texas Dallas baseball team pounded out 18 hits in a 18-3 win over the Eagles Friday. The Eagles broke open a scoreless game in the third with three runs on four hits. William Shumate drove in a run and Alex Ray doubled in two runs for the Eagles. But that would be it for the Eagle offense. The Comet offense took over scoring five in the fourth and four in the fifth. With a 10-0 lead, the Comet plated eight runs in the seventh. Trey Vance and Ray had two hits for the Eagles.

Eagles Salvage Series With Game three Win
Brownwood, Texas-The Eagles salvaged the series against Howard Payne University Saturday by winning game three 12-2. Starting pitcher Grant Cross threw a solid game going eight innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out six. Cross moved his record to 2-2 on the season. The Eagles gave Cross the run support he needed as the offense recorded 15 hits and forced Howard Payne to throw seven different pitchers. With no score on the board, the Eagles tagged Howard Payne with four runs in the third. Luke Morrison, Trey Vance and Dru Didway all singled in runners. In the sixth, Vance added a two-run single to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead. The Eagles led 8-2 heading into the ninth and then added four more runs in the top half of the inning. Alex Ray had a two-run single to highlight the inning. Cross did not allow a hit in the second, third or fifth inning. Rennie Arjona and Didway had four-hit games. Vance had a team-best three RBI.

Brownwood, Texas-The Eagles struggled in the first inning and never recovered as Howard Payne University earned a 12-4 win in game one win Friday. Howard Payne scored five times in the first, highlighted by a grand slam to set the tone early. The Eagles did answer with two runs in the second on a Trey Vance solo home run and a Josh Ropple sacrifice RBI. Dru Didway homered in the fourth. Howard Payne led 8-4 heading into the sixth but put the game away with four runs in the frame. All seven hits in the game came from different Eagles.

Ray Delivers Clutch Hit In 13th Inning
Conway, Ark.-Alex Ray laced a double to left centerfield to score two runs and push the Eagles past Hendrix College 8-7 in 13 innings Tuesday night. Luke Morrison and Ben Cross scored on the clutch hit. Cross drew a walk to reach base and Morrison reached on an infield error. In the bottom of the 13th and with a runner on base and two outs, Kris Sloan got the final batter to fly out to centerfield. Ray, Morrison and Kagen Kennedy had three-hit games. Morrison and Trey Vance batted seven times. Sloan received the win after pitching the final three innings.

Cowboys Take Game Three Against The Eagles
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles had trouble getting any momentum against Hardin-Simmons’ starter Brandon Girod as the Cowboys took game three of the series 10-3 on Saturday. Girod pitched a complete game and struck out eight while walking only one. The Cowboys led early 2-0, but the Eagles scored two runs in the fifth inning on a William Shumate RBI single and a Rennie Arjona RBI single. With Hardin-Simmons leading 6-2, the Eagles scored their final run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Shumate. The Cowboys then put the game out of reach with three runs in the eighth. Girod cruised in the ninth inning striking out all three batters he faced. Dru Didway had a three-hit game going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Silvestri Homers Twice In 19-2 Win
Clarksville, Ark.-Dru Didway blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to give the Eagles a 7-6 come-from-behind win in game one Friday against Hardin-Simmons University. The Cowboys owned a 2-0 lead early, but the Eagles had a big fourth inning to take a 5-2 advantage. Ben Cross started the rally with a single to center field. Luke Morrison then drew a walk and Alex Ray singled to left field to load the bases. With one out, Kagen Kennedy delivered a base clearing double to give the Eagles a 5-2 advantage. The Cowboys answered with four runs in the fifth to take back a 6-5 lead. However, Didway sent a shot over the wall with Kennedy on base that proved to be the game-winner. Didway was the only Eagle to have a multi-hit game (2). Blake Benson received the win after tossing 6.1 innings. He fanned nine. Closer Kris Sloan recorded the save. The win also snapped a ten-game losing streak.

Harding University Tops Eagles
Searcy, Ark.-The Eagles scored their only run of the game in the first inning as NCAA II Harding University took a 9-1 win Wednesday night. Alex Ray drove in Rennie Arjona but it was all Harding after that. The Bison scored in the first, second and third innings to hold a 4-1 lead. The Bison later scored twice in the fifth and three times in the eighth. Arjona had three of the Eagles’ six hits.

Eagles Swept By Washington
St. Louis, Mo.-The Eagles let a 6-2 lead slip away as Washington University (Mo.) came back to earn a 11-6 win in game one of the series. Washington struck first with two runs in the first frame, but the Eagles answered with a run in the third on a Ben Cross RBI. The Eagles would score four runs in the fourth on two hits. Dru Didway drew a bases loaded walk to push across a run and Rennie Arjona had a three-run triple. The offense kept producing as Alex Ray had an RBI single in the fifth. However, the game turned in the bottom of the fifth. Washington plated six runs to capture a 8-2 lead. The Eagles’ offense stalled while Washington would add three more runs in the game. Arjona, Ray and Trey Vance had two hits.

Hendrix Tops Eagles In Wednesday Night Game
Conway, Ark. – Hendrix College won its third game of the season against the Eagles with a 10-3 victory Wednesday night in Conway. The Warriors used a consistent offense to upend six Eagle pitchers. Hendrix scored in second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while the Eagles scored in the fourth and eighth. In the fourth, the Eagles scored on a passed ball. Trailing 10-1, the Eagles plated two runs in the eighth on RBI singles from Nicholas Bennett and Kagen Kennedy. The Eagles struck our 11 times, but outhit the Warriors 9-8.

Tornados Edge Eagles In Double-Header
Austin, Texas-Concordia University Texas recorded a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to secure a 5-4 win over the Eagles in game one. The Eagles outhit the tornados 9-5, but couldn’t push across the runs it needed. The Eagles led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but Concordia recorded back-to-back hits and then got a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Following a walk, Chris Varljen singled up the middle to win the game. Trailing 1-0, the Eagles generated three runs in the fourth frame on a Trey Vance RBI double and a Kagen Kennedy two-run single. With the score even at 3-3, Luke Morrison ripped an RBI triple in the top of the ninth to put the Eagles in front briefly. Rennie Arjona, Luke Morrison and Trey Vance each had two hits.

Concordia Takes Game One
Austin, Texas – The Eagles left 11 runners on base and had ten hits but Concordia University Texas came out on top 11-4 Friday night in game one. Carlos Castillo tripled to right center field to score two runs in the third inning to even the score at 2-2. But in the bottom half of the inning, Concordia took the lead for good. The Eagles pulled within 4-3 in the fifth and could have added more but stranded runners. The Eagles would score another run in the sixth on a Rennie Arjona RBI single. The Eagles loaded the bases in the seventh and had a lead-off runner on base in the eighth but couldn’t score. Arjona finished 3-for-5 at the plate.

40-Run, 34-Hit Game Goes To Hendrix
Clarksville, Ark. – In a wild game that saw a combined 40 runs, 34 hits and ten errors, Hendrix College outlasted the Eagles 23-17 Tuesday. Tuesday’s slugfest was the highest scoring loss since 2010. That season, the Eagles lost to UT Dallas 28-12. In 1999, the Eagles lost to Harding University 36-10 and University of Dallas 29-12. Against Hendrix, a total of 11 pitchers were used in the game by the two teams. Offensively, a total of 13 players had multiple-hit games. After three complete innings, Hendrix held a 7-1 lead. But after that, the game turned into a slugfest. The two teams combined for 26 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings alone. After the sixth, Hendrix led 20-14. The Eagles then pulled within 20-16 after scoring two runs in the top of the eighth. The fourth inning proved to be the Eagles’ highest scoring frame of the game as seven crossed the plate. The Eagles recorded seven hits, four of which were doubles, in the fourth. The Eagles outhit the Warriors 19-15, but had trouble overcoming nine errors in the contest. Rennie Arjona, Ben Cross, Luke Morrison and Joshua Ropple had three hits each. Arjona and Kagen Kennedy drove in four runs each.

Crusaders Take Game Three
Clarksville, Ark.-University of Mary Hardin-Baylor blasted four home runs and the Eagles’ defense committed four errors as the Crusaders won game three of the series 16-6 Saturday. The Crusaders hit two homers in the first inning to start their offensive outburst. The Crusaders followed with another homer in the second to make it 4-1 after two. In the fifth, Trey Vance homered and Luke Morrison ripped an RBI double to pull the Eagles within 5-3. But the Crusaders scored four times in the sixth and seven times in the eighth to put the game out of reach. All seven of their runs in the eighth came with two outs. Ben Cross, Morrison and Dru Didway all had two hits.

Dru Didway's Walk-Off Double Completes DH Sweep
Clarksville, Ark.-Dru Didway smashed a walk-off double to left field to push across Josh Ropple and give the Eagles a 6-5 win in game two. The Eagles held a 5-3 lead heading into the top of the ninth and looked to secure the game with two outs. However, the Crusaders hit back-to-back solo home runs to shock the Eagles and even the score. Earlier in the game, the Eagles fell behind 3-0 before Ben Cross blasted a three-run homer to tie the score in the third. The Eagles followed that with two runs in the fourth on a Carlos Castillo two-run homer. Rodny Valdes and Dylan Kuester then limited the amount of Crusader baserunners to set up the final frame. The Crusaders had other ideas, but Didway provided the heroics in the end. Cross paced the Eagles with three RBI. Valdes struck out five in six innings of work.

Didway's Grand Slam Ignites Eagles
Abilene, Texas-Dru Didway busted open a 3-1 game in the sixth with a grand slam as the Eagles won game three against McMurry University 14-12 Monday. The Eagles generated two runs in the second frame and then added another run in the third to maintain a 3-1 lead. Neither team would score until the sixth. Leading 11-2, the Eagles plated three more runs in the top of the seventh on a Luke Morrison RBI single and a Kegan Kennedy two-run single. McMurry answered with five runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 14-7. The Eagles went scoreless in the top of the eighth, and then McMurry made things interesting in the bottom half of the inning by scoring five runs on one hit, which came on a grand slam. Heading into the ninth, the Eagles still led 14-12. In the bottom of the ninth, Josh Ropple struck out three straight to end the game. The Eagles pounded out 15 hits. Carlos Castillo went 4-for-6 with two RBI. Didway drove in four runs on one hit. Grant Cross took the win after tossing six innings and striking out five.

Abilene, Texas-McMurry University pitcher Derek Hostas threw a two-hit shutout to give the War Hawks a 1-0 win over the Eagles in game one. McMurry scratched across the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out single. The War Hawks then kept the Eagles off the board in the top of the seventh to secure the game. Blake Benson only allowed four hits until the sixth when the War Hawks recorded two. Benson fanned eight in his outing.

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles cruised through six innings leading 6-3 before East Texas Baptist University powered their way to a 14-9 win Friday in conference play. Starter Blake Benson fanned two in the first inning and then the Eagles got an RBI single from Alex Ray to go ahead 1-0. Tied 1-1, the Eagles scored twice in the third, once on another Ray RBI single and a RBI by Luke Morrison. In the fourth, Sam Silvestri blasted a two-run homer to put the Eagles in front 5-1. Meanwhile, Benson did not allow a run until the sixth. The Tigers closed the gap to 6-3 after six complete innings. But in the seventh, the Tigers took control scoring seven runs on seven hits to take the momentum. The Eagles’ offense didn’t generate a run in the sixth, seventh or eighth inning against the Tigers pitching staff. The Tigers scored three in the top of the ninth to lead 14-6. Hendrix Outlasts Eagles In Slugfest
Clarksville, Ark.-In typical Hendrix and Ozarks fashion, the two teams combined for 31 hits, 30 runs, ten errors to go along with 13 different pitchers only to have the Warriors outlast the Eagles 17-13 Tuesday. It was the season-opener for the Eagles. The Warriors led 3-2 after three innings of play, but changed the outlook of the game in the fourth by scoring six runs. The Warriors added two more runs in the fifth to take a commanding 11-3 lead after five. Hendrix tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth, but the Eagles got two runs back on RBI singles from Alex Ray and Josh Ropple. With Hendrix leading 17-6 heading into the eighth, the Eagles made a valiant comeback in the bottom half of the frame. Sam Silvestri cleared the bases with a double to make it 17-9. Ben Cross then hit a three-run homer to pull the Eagles within 17-12. In the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles got back-to-back hitters on base with no outs, but could only score once. Rennie Arjona, Ben Cross and Keagan Kennedy each had three hits in the game.

Eagles To Recognize 50th Anniversary Of Title IX
Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks Athletic Department will recognize the 50th anniversary of Title IX during halftime of the women?s basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 19 in Mabee Gymnasium. Benson Pitches Gem, Morrison Smashes Grand Slam In Playoff Win
Marshall, Texas-The Eagles got an outstanding pitching performance from lefty Blake Benson and the offense battered five Louisiana College pitchers for 13 hits to invoke the run-rule in a 13-0 American Southwest Conference Tournament victory Thursday. The Eagles will play the winner of the East Texas Baptist and Belhaven game tomorrow at 3:00 pm. Benson (2-2) scattered four hits in his complete game win against the Wildcats. Benson only allowed one hit through 4.0 innings of work. The Eagles’ offense gave Benson plenty to work with as two runners crossed the plate in the second inning. But it was the third inning that shook the Wildcats when the Eagles plated six runs on six hits. The Eagles recorded three consecutive hits, with Rey Lozano ripping an RBI double. With the bases loaded, Luke Morrison blasted a grand slam to put the Eagles in front 7-0. Josh Stephens had a sacrifice RBI for the final run of the inning. The Eagles crossed the plate again in the fifth on a Wildcat error. Rennie Arjona and Lozano had RBI in the top of the seventh. Benson then retired the side in the bottom half of the inning to end the game. It was the first shutout of the season for Benson and his second complete game. He fanned six. Morrison had a monster game going 4-for-4 with four RBI. Ben Cross went 3-for-5.

UT Dallas Baseball Team Handles Eagles In Double-Header
Clarksville, Ark.-UT Dallas had a big third inning scoring four runs and Comet pitcher Carter Cochrane had a shutout going for six innings to top the Eagles 8-1 in game one. The Comets scored four runs on three hits in the third and then plated two more runs in the fifth to hold a 6-0 lead. Erick Aguirre broke the shutout with a solo home run in the top of the seventh. The Eagles ended the game with seven hits, while the Comets recorded ten. Aguirre and Trey Vance had two hits.

Harding Hands Eagles Loss
Searcy, Ark.-Harding University jumped on the Eagles early and never let the game get close as the Bison won 13-1 Tuesday night. The Bison scored three runs in the first and two runs in the second. The Eagles plated a run in the top of the third on a Rennie Arjona RBI single. Harding would score three runs in the sixth and another three in the seventh to invoke the run-rule. Arjona had two hits for the Eagles. The Eagles committed five errors and had five hits.

Louisiana College Stuns Eagles In Game Three
Clarksville, Ark.-Louisiana College had a clutch two-out hit in the top of the ninth to tie the game and then blasted a three-run homer in the tenth to hand the Eagles a disappointing 7-4 loss in game three Sunday. The Eagles pitching staff, consisting of Rodny Valdes, Connor Rowe and Kris Sloan, held the Wildcats to two hits through 8.2 innings, before a trio of timely hits late in the game. The Wildcats led 2-1 until the fourth when Carlos Castillo and Ben Cross had RBI singles. The Eagles went ahead 4-2 in the sixth on a Wildcat error. Louisiana College plated a run in the seventh to make it 4-3. In the ninth with two outs, Louisiana College inserted pinch hitter Jacob Fowler and he delivered a timely single. Brodie Falgoust would later single in a pinch runner from second base to even the score 4-4. With one out in the tenth, Austin Willey blasted a three-run homer to deflate and stun the Eagles. The Eagles did lead off the bottom of the tenth with a single, but couldn’t bring him home. Sloan took the loss for the Eagles. Rennie Arjona and Ben Cross each had three hits. The Eagles recorded 14 hits, while the Wildcats had just five.

Eagles Baseball Splits With Louisiana College
Clarksville, Ark.-A rough first inning allowed Louisiana College to hold off the Eagles as the Wildcats won 6-4. The Eagles gave up four runs on three hits in the first inning to trail early on. Starter Dylan Kuester then allowed just four hits until the seventh. The Eagles crossed the plate twice in the third and then got a two-run homer from Erick Aguirre to even the score 4-4 in the fourth. But the Eagles wouldn't score again and the Wildcats generated two runs in the top of the seventh. Kuester would finish with nine strikeouts but was charged with the loss. Aguirre, Rey Lozano and Trey Vance each had two hits.

Cross Blasts Two Solo Home Runs In Win
Marshall, Texas-Ben Cross had himself a day with a pair of solo home runs and Rodny Valdes allowed just five hits in his start as the Eagles took a 2-1 win against East Texas Baptist University Sunday in game three. Cross cranked out his first home run in the third inning to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Valdes kept the Tigers scoreless until the bottom of the eighth. Cross blasted his second home run of the day in the top of the eighth. Valdes got two outs in the eighth, but was replaced by Kris Sloan. Valdes was charged with a run in the frame. He fanned three in 7.2 innings of work. Sloan collected his sixth save the season with a one hit performance in 1.1 innings. Sloan made quick work of the Tigers in the ninth by retiring the side. Cross was a tough out in the game as he went 4-for-4.

Tigers Edge Eagles In Game One
Marshall, Texas-East Texas Baptist University held the Eagles to four hits as the home team edged the visitors 3-2 in game one. The Tigers plated a run in the first, but the Eagles answered in the top of the second with two runs. Luke Morrison hit a solo homer and Trey Vance tripled in a run. But the Eagles couldn’t get their bats going after that as the Tigers allowed just one hit after the second. The Tigers scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the second. Dylan Kuester (5-1) was charged with the loss.

Longview, Texas-LeTourneau University completed a successful comeback with a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth to secure a 5-4 win in game one. The Eagles and YellowJackets were all tied 3-3 after eight innings, but the Eagles took a 4-3 advantage in the ninth when Rey Lozano walked in a run. But LeTourneau recorded a double to drive in a pair of runs for the win.

Harding University used a steady dose of offense to upend the Eagles 13-5 Tuesday night in Searcy. The Bison jumped on the Eagles pitching staff early scoring five runs in the first and two more in the second to take a quick lead. The Eagles produced two runs in the second frame behind a pair of groundout RBI. The Eagles brought it to 8-4 in the fourth when James Cross had an RBI double and Luke Morrison had an RBI single. Morrison would triple in a run in the sixth to make it 8-5. Morrison tied the program record in triples (4). But Harding generated two runs in the bottom half of the inning and three runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Eagles left ten runners on base and had 13 hits.

Morrison's Grand Slam Leads Eagles To Sweep
Clarksville, Ark.Luke Morrison blasted a grand slam in the first inning to set the tone for the Eagles in a 5-3 win over Belhaven University in game three of the series. The win gave the Eagles a sweep over the Blazers. In the first inning, Rennie Arjona and James Cross had back-to-back singles and Rey Lozano drew a walk to set the table for Morrison. Morrison then delivered a shot over the left field wall to drive in four runs. The Blazers would score a run in the second, third and fifth inning to make it 4-3. The Eagles added a run in the fifth on an Alex Ray RBI single. The Eagles threw five pitchers with Connor Rowe receiving the win and Kris Sloan recording his fourth save of the season. Morrison finished 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles had to overcome a 5-0 deficit early to pick up a 7-6 win against Belhaven University Thursday afternoon. The Eagles exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second on five hits. Alex Ray started the rally with a single and Trey Vance immediately followed with an RBI double. James Cross then drew a walk and Tyler Arco singled to load the bases. Josh Stephens was hit by a pitch to bring Vance across the plate. Rennie Arjona then had a fielders choice RBI to bring the score to 5-3, but it was a two-run single from Erick Aguirre that did most of the damage. A double steal allowed Arjona to score and Ray Lozano pushed across the go-ahead run with an RBI single. From there, Dylan Kuester cruised and allowed just three hits the rest of the way. He faced the minimum in the fifth and sixth innings. Kuster tossed a complete game to move his recorded to 5-0. He fanned five and issued only one walk. Rey Lozano had three hits.

Clarksville, Ark.-Concordia University Texas got the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice bunt and then scored three runs in the ninth for a 9-5 win Saturday in game three. The game was tied 5-5 after Concordia scored four runs in the fifth. The Eagles jumped ahead 3-0 in the bottom of the first on two hits. The Eagles took a 5-1 advantage in the third on three hits. But the Tornados stormed back and pitcher Daniel Lewis cruised through the final four innings allowing just two hits. The Eagles gave up three runs in the top of the ninth and couldn’t overcome the deficit. Luke Morrison went 3-for-4.

Eagles Take Thrilling Double-Header
Dylan Kuester got the lead he needed late in the game and Kris Sloan closed the door in the final inning to give the Eagles a 7-5 game one win over Concordia University Texas. Concordia was ahead in the top of the sixth 5-4, but the Eagles generated three runs to move in front 7-5. In the bottom of the sixth, Luke Morrison led off with a single and Trey Vance recorded a sacrifice hit to move Morrison into scoring position. Morrison later advanced to third on a wild pitch. James Cross hit a grounder in the infield and Morrison sprinted home to even the score 5-5. Tyler Arco followed with a single to put runners at second and first. With the Concordia pitching staff rattled, both Cross and Arco advanced on a wild pitch. Josh Stephens then delivered his biggest hit of the season with a sharp single to right field to score Cross and Arco. Kuester then headed to the top of the seventh with a 7-5 lead. He got a groundout, but walked the next batter. From there, Kuester got another groundout to have two outs. Sloan was then inserted and issued a walk and then hit a batter to put two runners in scoring position. But Sloan finished off the Tornados with a fly out to earn the save. Morrison, Cross and Stephens had two RBI each. Rey Lozano homered in the third. Morrison and Stephens had two hits. Kuester moves his record to 3-0.

Baseball Team Completes Sweep With 14-Inning Marathon Win
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles completed a three-game sweep against Howard Payne University in a 14-inning marathon that favored the home team 12-11. Rey Lozano was the hero as he provided a double off the left field wall to score Rennie Arjona in the bottom of the 14th. The Eagles seemed to have control of the game leading 6-2 after three innings, but Howard Payne exploded for seven runs in the top of the fourth. The game remained tied at 10-10 in the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth innings. Howard Payne broke the tie in the thirteenth with an RBI single, but the Eagles generated a run in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI single from James Cross. In the bottom of the fourteenth, Arjona led off with a single and was followed by a walk from Erick Aguirre. Lozano then smashed the game-winning hit. Arjona, Lozano and Trey Vance had three-hit games.

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles scored the game-winning run on an infield error to take game one against Howard Payne University 5-4 Friday. With the score tied 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles mounted a rally with Rey Lozano singling to right field. Alex Ray then reached first base on a fielder’s choice as Lozano got out at second. Luke Morrison followed with a walk, advancing Ray into scoring position. Brooks Boshers pinch ran for Ray. With one out, James Cross ripped a hard grounder to the first baseman, who was unable to field it allowing Broshers to cross home plate with ease. Howard Payne held a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third before the Eagles scored twice. Morrison drove in a run with a single. The other score came on a bases loaded double play ball that allowed Rennie Arjona to score. The Eagles got the game-tying run in the sixth when Arjona recorded a sacrifice fly. Blake Benson went five innings as the starter. Zachary Brizendine threw the final two innings to receive the win. The duo combined for seven strikeouts. Lozano and Trey Vance had two hits.

Alpine, Texas-A big first inning propelled the Eagles past Sul Ross State University 9-1 Friday afternoon. The Eagles pounded out 14 hits and five players had multi-hit games. Luke Morrison highlighted the first inning with a two-run triple. James Cross had an RBI single in the frame and then the Eagles scored on an error to make it 4-0. In the third, Cross and Josh Stephens had RBI to increase the lead to 6-1. In the fourth, Erick Aguirre blasted a two-run homer and in the sixth Cross produced again with a RBI single. Blake Benson cruised to a complete game with three strikeouts. He had one walk and the Lobo run was earned. Sul Ross State Baseball Team Takes Game Three
Sul Ross State University pounded out 15 hits and held the Eagles to six to earn a 7-3 game three win Saturday. Both teams scored once in the first inning, but Sul Ross State took the lead for good in the second on an unearned run. Trailing 4-1, the Eagles scored once in the bottom of the fifth. Sul Ross countered with three runs in the sixth. The Eagles plated another run in the bottom half of the sixth, but that would be all. The Eagles left ten runners on base in the game. Clarksville, Ark.-Starting pitcher David Beck cruised through six innings and mowed down ten batters as the Eagles took game one 9-5 against Sul Ross State University. Beck allowed just three hits to move his record to a perfect 4-0. The right-hander did not allow an earned run and issued two walks during his outing. The Lobos would actually grab a 2-0 lead in the top of the third before the Eagles answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 2-1. Chase Edwards doubled down the right field line to drive in the run. The Lobos led all the way until the bottom of the sixth inning. That is when the Eagles took over with five hits in the bottom half of the frame to score eight times. Rennie Arjona, Edwards and Luke Morrison highlighted the inning with two-run hits. Arjona, Edwards, Morrison and Brooks Boshers all had two hits in the game. Edwards drove in three runs.

Conway, Ark.-The Eagles were hitless in five innings and totaled only six hits over nine innings as the Hendrix College pitching staff led the Warriors to a 8-3 win Tuesday night. The Eagles did score first when Bradon Mabry homered in the second inning to drive in two runs. But Hendrix responded with four runs in the bottom half of the second and never let go of the lead. The Warriors followed that with two more runs in the next inning to hold a 6-2 advantage. The Eagles would load the bases in the top of the ninth with one out. Josh Stephens drove in a run with an infield single. But the Warriors forced a fly out and a foul out on consecutive batters. All six hits came from difference players for the Eagles.

Hardin-Simmons Baseball Takes Extra Inning Comeback Win
Abilene, Texas-In an incredible swing of momentum, Hardin-Simmons scored a combined seven runs in the eighth and ninth inning and then plated the game-winning run in the tenth to pull out a 13-12 win. The Eagles held a 3-0 lead after four and a 6-0 lead after five. Hardin-Simmons had a big sixth inning scoring five runs to trim the deficit to 7-5, but the Eagles burst out to a 12-5 advantage after scoring five runs in the top of the seventh. The big bat of Chase Edwards highlighted the inning with a three-run homer. But things quickly changed for the Eagles as Hardin-Simmons grabbed momentum of the game scoring three runs in the eighth and four more in the ninth to push it into extra innings. From there, the Eagles struck out three straight times in the top of the tenth and the Cowboys manufactured the game-winning run on a one-out RBI single. Clarksville, Ark.-Hardin-Simmons overcame a 4-3 deficit after three innings of play and scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead for good in a 9-5 win. The Eagles plated two runs to open the game behind a two-run single from Brooks Boshers. The Cowboys grabbed a 3-2 lead after two, but the Eagles answered with two runs in the third on a Boshers bases loaded walk and an RBI groundout from Tyler Arco. The Eagles went scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings, while the Cowboys scored six times. Rennie Arjona and Rey Lozano each had two hits.

Eagles Win In Extra Innings Behind Trey Vance Single
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles completed a three-game sweep against McMurry University Saturday with a wild 13-12 win in 11 innings. Trey Vance knocked in Rey Lozano from second base for the game-winning run. Vance singled through the right side of the infield to allow the speedy Lozano to score and send the Eagles into a celebration. Both teams went through four pitchers with Josh Craven receiving the win after tossing the final four frames. The Eagles recorded 18 hits and five Eagles had multi-hit games. Lozano finished 5-for-6 with four runs and Rennie Arjona went 4-for-7 with three runs. Brooks Boshers finished 3-for-6 while Josh Stephens and Chase Edwards had two hits apiece. McMurry led 4-0 before the Eagles plated four runs in the third. The Eagles took a 11-6 lead in the sixth to take control of the game, but McMurry battled back to score twice in the seventh and four times in the eighth to take the lead back. The Eagles totaled seven hits in the sixth with Josh Stephens and Sam Silvestri recording two-run singles. Luke Morrison had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to even the game 12-12 and send the thriller into extra innings.

Beck, Benson Dominate On The Mound In Sweep
Clarksville, Ark.-Starting pitcher David Beck was dominant in his outing against McMurry University throwing a no-hitter for 6.1 innings in Friday’s 13-0 win. Beck finished with a one-hitter over seven innings. The junior right-hander struck out seven and walked five. Beck faced the minimum in the third, fourth and fifth innings. After recording an out in the seventh, Beck issued a walk and then gave up a hit. The offense and defense were stout behind Beck. The Eagles pounded out 15 hits, with five different players recording multiple-hit games, and the defense played flawless without an error. Rey Lozano cranked out a solo home run in the first inning and then the Eagles added three more runs in the second. Sam Silvestri did most of the damage in the second with a two-run shot over the right field fence. Silvestri almost did it again in the fourth, but he was just inches away from putting over. From there, the Eagles plated a run in the fourth, and then four in the fifth and sixth inning. In the fifth, Josh Stephens blasted a two-run single. In the sixth, Tyler Arco recorded a two-run double. Arco had himself a day going 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Lozano, Chase Edwards, Luke Morrison and Silvestri each had two hits.

Baseball Team Moves To 5-1 Behind Arjona And Stephenson
Clarksville, Ark.-Rennie Arjona went 4-for-4 with two RBI and starting pitcher Chase Stephenson threw six innings allowing just one run to push the Eagles to a 5-1 win over Hendrix College Wednesday. The Eagles plated three runs in the second inning behind five hits. Tyler Arco, Arjona and Rey Lozano each drove in runs to make the score 3-0. Stephenson then kept the Warriors offense at bay. The Eagles added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth to increase the lead to 5-1. Arjona struck again as he doubled in a run and Sam Silvestri followed with a single to bring home Arjona. Zachary Brizendine pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth inning and Kris Sloan tossed a hitless and scoreless ninth inning to preserve the win. Arco finished 2-for-4 to compliment Arjona’s perfect day at the plate. Stephenson (1-0) allowed one run and struck out three in his outing to receive the win for Ozarks.

The Eagles completed a three-game sweep against Westminster College with a 7-5 win Sunday. The Eagles had a big first inning to propel the offense. Chase Edwards doubled in Josh Stephens. Trey Vance singled in Edwards and Vance and Brooks Boshers later scored on an error. Westminster got a run back in the second and third inning. The Eagles scored in the sixth inning to increase the lead to 5-2 on a solo home run by Tyler Arco. Westminster responded with three runs in the eighth to even the score 5-5. But the Eagles answered with RBI singles from Erick Aguirre and Rey Lozano to take the lead for good. Lozano and Arco each had two hits. Zachary Brizendine received the win in relief. He pitched one inning and Kris Sloane threw the final inning to receive the save.

Wildcats Win Series Against Baseball Eagles
Clarksville, Ark.-Louisiana College starting pitcher Andrew Robinson threw a complete game to help the Wildcats win game three 10-3 and take the series Saturday. Robinson fanned eight and allowed six hits in his outing. Chase Edwards hit a solo home run in the first to cut the Wildcat lead to 3-1. But the Eagles' offense struggled and wouldn't score again until the seventh. Rey Lozano accounted for that run as he singled in Sam Swartz. Lozano would record another RBI in the ninth. The Wildcats got a big double play in the bottom of the ninth just before Lozano's RBI.

Clarksville, Ark.-Louisiana College opened the game with three runs and then kept the Eagles' offense in check the rest of the way to earn a 11-5 win in game one Friday. A pair of RBI doubles by Erick Aguirre and Chase Edwards brought the Eagles within 9-4 after five innings. But the Wildcats quickly answered with two runs in the next frame. Stanley's Bases Clearing Double Ignites Eagles
Clarksville, Ark.-Zach Stanley's bases clearing double in the third inning gave the Eagles the lead for good and helped Ozarks push past NCAA II Ouachita Baptist University 8-5 Tuesday afternoon. Ouachita Baptist jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added another run in the fourth, but the Eagles plated two runs in the bottom half of the second. Stanley and Rey Lozano had RBI to make it 5-2. In the third, Stanley delivered his big hit to right field to bring home all three runners on base. With the Eagles leading 6-4, Chase Edwards ripped an RBI single up the middle to drive in another run. Edwards gave the Eagles an insurance run in the sixth on a RBI single to right field. The Eagles pitching staff kept the Tigers off the board in the final four innings to secure the win. The team's defense proved to be tough as it recorded four double plays in the game. Stanley finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and Edwards was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jacob Tamayo received the win and Corey Steward notched the save.

Texas-Dallas Baseball Hands Eagles Double-Header Setback
Richardson, Texas-The University of Texas-Dallas Comets used a three-run first inning to take a 4-2 victory over University of the Ozarks in the first game of a Friday afternoon doubleheader at UTD. The Eagles out-hit the Comets 5-3 but left eight runners on base in the contest. The Comets took a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning behind three unearned runs following an Eagles' fielding error. The Eagles pulled within 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning after Josh Stephens drew a two-out walk and scored in front of Zach Stanley's two-run home run, his third of the season. The Eagles had runners in scoring position in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings but could not get a run across the plate. The Comets added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to go up 4-3. Eagles starter Dalton Spurgeon (1-3) took the loss despite give up just one earned run and three hits in six innings of work. Catcher Erick Aguirre had two of the Eagles' five hits.

Edwards Blasts Grand Slam In 6-5 Win
Clarksville, Ark.-Chase Edwards blasted a grand slam in the third inning and the Eagles scored all six runs in that frame to power past Hendrix College 6-5. The win avenges a pair of shutout losses against Hendrix earlier in the season. Starting pitcher Jacob Tamayo (1-1) picked up his first collegiate win with an outstanding performance. Tamayo scattered eight hits over seven innings. In facing 28 batters, he never issued a walk. Hendrix did its most damage in the first inning against Tamayo scoring three runs, but the freshman settled in after that and did not allow another hit until the fifth inning. Meanwhile the Eagles loaded the bases with one out for the dangerous left-handed hitter Edwards. Edwards delivered a shot over the right field wall to ignite the inning. Josh Stephens and Zach Stanley later recorded RBI to bring the score to 6-3. The Warriors scored a run in the ninth with two outs, but Corey Steward forced a fly out to receive his third save of the season.

David Beck Tosses Two-Hit Complete Game
Clarksville, Ark.-Starting pitcher David Beck threw a two-hit complete game to lead the Eagles to a 11-1 win over Howard Payne University in game three Saturday. The Yellow Jackets scored their only run in the third inning on a wild pitch. The Yellow Jackets had one hit in the inning (double) and then advanced the runner on a groundout before the wild pitch. The Eagles plated three runs in the first and then added one in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth. Rocky Liveoak and Erick Aguirre each had RBI in the fourth. The Eagles pounded out six hits in the fifth with Josh Stephens, Fielder Dufrene, Liveoak and Breyden Varner all providing Beck with run support. Varner had a two-run double. The right-handed Beck had command of his fastball throughout the game. He fanned both Cliff Lunceford and Noah Payne looking in the third. The following inning, Beck got Ty McCain to ground into a double play and then struck out RJ Roberts to end the inning. In the fifth, he worked around a single and got Noah Coronado to ground into another double play. Beck faced 25 batters, struck out six and issued three walks. Varner and Aguirre had three-hit games for the Eagles.

Howard Payne Baseball Records Two Comeback Wins In Double-Header
Clarksville, Ark.-Cliff Lunceford recorded a clutch two-run single in the eighth inning to help Howard Payne University to a 5-3 come-from-behind win in game one Friday. The Eagles opened the game with a run in the first frame on Chance Edwards' RBI single. The gritty Yellow Jackets later followed with a pair of runs in the next inning to hold a 2-1 advantage. The Eagles countered with two runs in the third on Breyden Varner's two-run homer. Howard Payne wouldn't go away and evened the score 3-3 in the sixth. Eventually, the Yellow Jackets were in position to plate the runs needed and delivered in the top of the eighth. From there, the Eagles flew out, grounded out, walked and flew out in the bottom of the eighth. Starting pitcher Dalton Spurgeon induced a double play in the third and relief pitcher Tyler Vernon did the same in the seventh to stop any scoring threats. The Eagles' offense produced eight hits, with Varner and Edwards tallying two hits apiece.

Beck allowed just one earned run to pick up his second victory of the season. With the score tied 2-2 after six complete innings, the Eagles jumped on Mary Hardin-Baylor with five runs in the seventh. Breyden Varner, Zach Stanley and Sam Swartz drove in runs and Josh Stephens recorded a two-run single to push the Eagles in front 7-2. The Eagles added two more runs in the eighth, one coming from Varner and the other from Chase Edwards. In the top of the ninth, the Eagles extended their lead to 11-2. Beck cruised through the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings allowing just four base runners during that span. Swartz went 3-for-4 with three runs for the Eagles.

Spurgeon Throws Complete Game Shutout; Eagles Win Extra Inning Game Two
Benton, Texas-Starting pitcher Dalton Spurgeon threw a three-hit complete game to lead the Eagles to a 6-0 shutout win in game one Friday. The Eagles opened the game with two runs, highlighted by an RBI triple from Erick Aguirre. The Crusaders managed little against the dominant 6-foot-5 right-hander from Missouri. Spurgeon pitched a hitless second, fourth, fifth and seventh inning to keep the shutout intact. Spurgeon mowed down five Crusader batters in the seven-inning outing. It was his first shutout of the season. The Eagles provided a steady dose of run support for Spurgeon throughout the game. Three Eagles had multiple-hit games. Spurgeon faced 27 batters, struck out five and walked three.

Arkadelphia, Ark.-Henderson State University produced runs in five innings to hand the Eagles a 11-4 setback Tuesday night in Arkadelphia. The Reddies scored two runs in the first and another run in the third to lead 3-0. The Eagles generated three runs in the fifth behind an Edwin Rodriguez RBI single, Zach Stanley RBI double and an RBI groundout from Fielder Dufrene. Henderson State followed suit with three runs in the bottom half of the fifth to take the lead for good. The Reddies matched that total in the sixth and moved ahead 9-3. Rocky Liveoak had an RBI double in the seventh to finish the scoring for the Eagles. Josh Stephens paced the Eagles with two hits.

Two Grand Slams Ignite 12-Run Seventh To Lift Eagles To 18-16 Win
Clarksville, Ark.-Windy conditions kept the ball flying out of Lonnie R. Qualls Field Saturday in game three against Spalding University. The Eagles used two grand slams and 12 runs in the seventh inning to overcome a 10-4 deficit to secure a wild 18-16 win. With wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour throughout the day, Spalding scored five runs in the first inning, including a three-run homer. Sam Swartz homered in the second to get one run back, but Spalding cranked out a two-run homer in the second to take a 7-1 lead. Swartz tripled in two runs in the third inning to make it 8-3. Trailing 10-4 after six complete innings, the Eagles changed the game by recording six hits and exploding for 12 runs in the seventh. The scoring begin when Josh Stephens drew a bases loaded walk, followed by a Zach Stanley RBI single. Another bases loaded walk, this time by Fielder Dufrene, drove in another run. Rocky Liveoak then blasted a grand slam to give the Eagles a 11-10 advantage. The patient Stephens drew another bases loaded walk to plate a run and then Stanley flexed his muscles by cranking out a grand slam to put the score at 16-10. The offensive show wasn't over for the Eagles as Liveoak and Breyden Varner hit solo home runs in the eighth. With the Eagles leading 18-12 and the game far from over, Spalding hit a grand slam in the top of the ninth. With one out, relief pitcher Tyler Vernon forced two flyouts to end the game. Liveoak went 3-for-5 with five RBI. Stanley went 2-for-3 with five RBI and three runs. Varner went 3-for-5 with four runs. Swartz went 3-for-5 with three RBI. In all, a combined eight home runs were hit in the game.

Spalding Baseball Edges Eagles In Double-Header
Clarksville, Ark.-Spalding overcame a strong pitching performance from starter Dalton Spurgeon to edge the Eagles 4-3 in game one. Spurgeon mowed down 11 Spalding batters over 8.1 innings, but ended up receiving the loss. A big RBI double from Spalding's Zane Baker in the top of the ninth proved to be the difference in the game against Spurgeon. But it was the Eagles who plated three runs in the first on two hits. Chase Edwards was responsible for two of those runs as he laced a single to centerfield. The other run came from a Spalding miscue in the field. Spalding matched the Eagles with three runs in the next frame to even the score. Neither team produced much offense until Spalding recorded two hits in the ninth. After allowing hits in the first and second, Spurgeon threw a hitless third, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Edwards and Rey Lozano each had two hits.

Clarksville, Ark.-Hendrix College plated two runs in the first inning and the Warrior pitcher staff cruised through nine innings to shutout the Eagles 3-0 on a chilly night in Conway. A two-run single up the middle by Hendrix in the first put the Warriors in control early. The Eagles' offense did get runners in scoring position in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, but couldn't advance them any further. The Eagles totaled just four hits. Garrett Williams logged 6.2 innings and received the loss.

Clarksville, Ark.-Concordia University Texas completed a three-game sweep against the Eagles with a 6-2 victory Saturday. The Tornados opened the game with a 4-0 lead after three innings. The Eagles got on the scoreboard in the fourth when Chase Edwards doubled in Breyden Varner. Trailing 6-1, the Eagles cut into the lead with one run in the bottom of the sixth with an Edwards solo home run. But the Eagles couldn't generate any more runs. Blake Benson suffered his first loss of the season. He went 5.1 innings, while Corey Steward went 3.2. Steward allowed just one hit in his time on the mound. Edwards went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles played one of their best games of the season combining an outstanding pitching effort, home run hitting and flawless defense to upend East Texas Baptist University 13-3 and win the series Monday afternoon. Freshman starting pitcher Blake Benson threw another gem to move his record to 2-0 on the season. Benson tossed a complete game (7.0 innings), struck out four, issued just one walk and faced 28 batters. Meanwhile, the Eagles' offense went through six Tiger pitchers in the game and Breyden Varner homered twice to power the offense. Chase Edwards also homered, but it was Rocky Liveoak that led the offense with three hits. Varner and Edwards went yard in back-to-back at-bats in the first inning. The Eagles' defense played error free for Benson. In the sixth, the Eagles exploded for seven runs on five hits to take a 9-2 lead. In the seventh, Varner cranked out his fifth home run of the season to drive in three runs. Varner finished with five RBI and Edwards had three RBI.

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles broke open a 6-6 tie with a Chase Edwards RBI single to push across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth and secure a 8-7 win over East Texas Baptist University in game one. The Eagles added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Erick Aguirre homered. The Tigers got one run back in the top of the seventh, but Corey Steward was able to force a flyout and then recorded a strikeout to end the game. Sam Swartz generated a run in the first inning on a RBI single. In the third frame, Dakota Ebarb cranked out a two-run homer to give the Eagles a 3-1 advantage. East Texas Baptist, however, stormed back in the top of the fourth and scored five runs to hold a 6-3 lead. The lead was quickly erased as the Eagles responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth. Breyden Varner had an RBI, Edwards smashed a home run and Aguirre recorded another RBI to even the contest 6-6. For the game, the Eagles pounded out 14 hits. Edwards led the charge with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

Eagles Strike Out 16 Times In Loss To Hendrix
Conway, Ark.-Hendrix College starting pitcher Andrei Stoya threw a two-hitter and struck out 13 to lead Hendrix College to a 7-0 shutout win over the Eagles Wednesday night in Conway. Stoya had a no-hitter going into the third inning. Hendrix jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning and then added one run in four other frames to provide a consistent offense. Freshman Blake Benson Spins Shutout In First Collegiate Start
Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman left-hander Blake Benson spun a complete game shutout in his first collegiate start Monday. Benson went eight innings, fanned eight and scattered five hits in a 10-0 win. It was the first shutout for the Eagles since 2016. The win also gave the Eagles the sweep against Westminster College. Benson worked quickly in the first striking out two batters and forcing a flyout. He retired the side in the second and then gave up two hits in the third. He also retired the side in the fourth. He induced a double play in the sixth and retired the side in the seventh and eighth innings to keep the shutout intact. The Eagles' offense manufactured a steady dose of runs for Benson throughout the game. Chase Edwards highlighted the offense with a two-run shot in the fourth. Edwards finished 2-for-5 with five RBI.

Eagles Win Wild Game One With Varner Driving In Seven
Clarksville, Ark.-The offense pounded out 16 hits and Breyden Varner drove in seven runs to help the Eagles overcome a seven-run third inning from Westminster College and secure a wild 15-11 win in game one of Sunday's double-header. Varner started the scoring fest in the bottom of the first when he sent a three-run homer over the center field wall. Westminster had a big third inning recording six hits and scoring seven runs to hold a 8-4 advantage. The Eagles were far from done though as the offense provided two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 8-6. Westminster got both runs back in the fourth, but the Eagles produced two runs on Rocky Liveoak's two-run double in the bottom half of the frame. Trailing 11-8, the Eagles had another big inning to take the lead for good. This time, in the bottom of the fifth, Rey Lozano doubled in a pair of runs and Varner smashed his second homer of the game to drive in three more. Dakota Ebarb then sliced a double to center field to push across the sixth run of the inning. Varner had more to do as he doubled to center field to record his seventh RBI of the game in the sixth. From there, closer Corey Steward threw a hitless seventh inning to end the game.

Eagles' Rally Falls Short Against NCAA II Ouachita Baptist
Arkadelphia, Ark.-The Eagles dropped a 9-7 decision to NCAA II Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia Wednesday. The Eagles made an impressive comeback after trailing 9-0, but simply ran out of innings. The Tigers plated five runs in the third inning and then added three runs in the fourth inning to hold a comfortable 8-0 advantage. In the seventh frame, the Eagles finally got on the board when Zach Stanley homered. In the eighth, the Eagles' bats really got going scoring five runs on four hits. Erick Aguirre, Josh Stephens and Rey Lozano all had RBI. The Eagles headed into the ninth trailing 9-6, and loaded the bases with one out in the top half of the inning. The Eagles cut the deficit to 9-7 when Aguirre recorded a sacrifice RBI, but that would be it for the visitors. Chase Edwards went 3-for-4 for the Eagles.

Eagles Fight Back In Game One Loss
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles made a furious comeback late in game one scoring five runs in the final inning only to fall 8-6 Saturday. University of Dallas pounded out four hits and scored six runs in the third inning to take the game's momentum early. University of Dallas starting pitcher Conrad Voss was lights out as he tossed six innings and allowed just two hits. The Eagles did plate a run in the third on Rey Lozano's groundout RBI to make it 6-1. As Voss cruised, the Crusaders made a pitching change in the bottom of the seventh that almost proved costly. The bottom of the inning opened with an error, but the Crusaders then got back-to-back outs to appear in control. But things unraveled quickly as the Eagles mounted a comeback and eventually had the game-winning run on base. Josh Stephens doubled in a run and then later in the frame, Chase Edwards delivered a big two-out bases clearing double to make it 8-5. Sam Swartz singled in a run to put runners at first and second. From there, a second Crusader relief pitcher was able to force a groundout to end the game. Edwards finished 1-for-4 with three RBI. Starting pitcher David Beck took the loss after tossing 2.2 innings. He had four strikeouts.

Eagles Pull Out Dramatic 3-2 Win
Clarksville, Ark.-In a game that was dominated by pitching, the Eagles prevailed in a way that they have all season long – late with a comeback. The Eagles trailed all the way until the bottom of the eighth. With two outs, Sam Swartz proved to be the hero as he laced a double down the right field line to bring in Justin Crider and Patrick Clifford in the bottom of the eighth inning. Crider drew a walk and Clifford ripped an RBI single through the left side of the infield to set up the game-winning hit. In the top of the ninth, Corey Steward was inserted to pitch for Waggoner with one out. With runners on first and second, Steward quickly forced a groundball, but shortstop Fielder Dufrene was unable to get an out to load the bases for the Tigers. However, Steward got redemption as he induced a double play ball in the infield to end the game. Second baseman Josh Woolly fielded a grounder, stepped on second base and then threw over to first base for the third out and send the Eagles into a celebration. The Eagles’ bats were quiet until the eighth and starting pitcher Dalton Spurgeon kept the Tiger bats in check in his 5.2 innings. Spurgeon fanned five and allowed only four hits. Jack Waggoner tossed 2.2 innings and struck out three to receive the win. Steward recorded the save in .2 innings of work. Swartz drove in two runs and the Eagles totaled four hits.

Eagles End Season With Loss In ASC Playoffs
Austin, Texas-UT-Tyler broke open a tight game in the fourth with six runs to post a 12-5 win and end the Eagles season in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The Patriots recorded 16 hits in the contest and starter Nate Imig threw a complete game. The Eagles scored twice in the top of the second behind a Fielder Dufrene RBI single and an error. In the sixth, Sam Swartz sliced a single through the left side of the infield to score one and bring the score to 11-3. Ozarks scratched across two runs in the seventh on a Breyden Varner two-run single. Patrick Clifford finished 2-for-4 in his final collegiate game. AJ Chalupka stared for Ozarks and Garrett Stevens finished the game. Chalupka went 3.1 innings and Stevens went 3.0. Stevens fanned four during his appearance.

Eagles Drop ASC Tournament Game Against UT-Tyler
Austin, Texas-The Eagles opened the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament with a 10-4 loss against UT-Tyler Friday in rainy and wet conditions. The Eagles let an early lead slip away as the Patriots rallied for four runs in the fourth inning and never gave the lead back to the Eagles. Up 6-4 after seven innings, the Patriots added four more runs in the eighth frame to secure the game. The Eagles scored twice in the first inning on back-to-back solo home runs from Breyden Varner and Patrick Clifford. UT-Tyler got one run back in the bottom half of the inning, but the Eagles responded with another run in the top of the second. This time Justin Crider had an RBI on a ground out. After UT-Tyler cut it to 3-2 after three, the Eagles appeared to be in control scoring another run in the fourth on Crider’s RBI single up the middle. But UT-Tyler mounted a comeback starting in the bottom half of the inning by scoring four runs. UT-Tyler had three hits and took advantage of one Eagle error in the inning. The Eagles had trouble recovering after that, but did pose a threat in the eighth recording two singles and a walk. However, UT-Tyler was able to strand each runner to end a potential rally. In all, the Eagles posted eight hits, while UT-Tyler had 13.

Eagles Complete Belhaven Sweep Behind Jones Single In Extra Inning
Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks baseball team beat the Belhaven Blazers 7-6 in eleven innings Saturday afternoon to sweep the series. Jordan Jones - on Senior Day - provided the dramatics with the game-winning single in the bottom of the 11th to seal the win. Patrick Clifford used a homerun in the third to put the Eagles on the board and tie up the game, 1-1. Ozarks would add two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth making the score 6-6 going into the ninth inning. After two scoreless innings, Matt Alamia pinch ran and stole second and third to put him on third base with Jones up to bat. Jones hit an RBI single to left field to secure the win over the Blazers. Bryce Elder had three hits and two RBI’s, Breyden Varner and Clifford had two hits apiece.

Baseball Team Sweeps Friday Double-Header
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles blasted Belhaven University 15-1 behind three home runs and a standout pitching performance from starter Gyeongju Kim. Josh Woolly got things started for the Eagles in the first inning with a two-run double. Sam Swartz followed with an RBI single and the route was on for the Eagles. In the second, Breyden Varner launched a three-run homer, and in the fourth Patrick Clifford blasted a two-run shot to put the Eagles in front 10-0. The hits kept coming as the Eagles scored five more in the fifth. Woolly highlighted the frame with a three-run homer. Kim (3-5) cruised through 5.1 innings and did not allow an earned run to receive the win. Kim scattered six hits and fanned four in his appearance. Rocky Liveoak and Swartz each had three hits. Woolly drove in five runs. Varner drove in three runs. In all, the Eagles pounded out 14 hits.

Baseball Team Splits Twinbill With ETBU
A Zach Gartner RBI single in the fourth inning proved to be the difference in the game as East Texas Baptist edged the Eagles 1-0 in game one Friday. Two outstanding pitching performances made for a fast game. The game lasted only one hour and 13 minutes. Starters Gyeongju Kim and Derrick Findley went the distance to record complete games. Kim allowed only three hits, while Findley gave up four to the Eagles. Kim struck out one and issued two walks. His run was earned. Findley fanned eight. The Tigers scratched across their run by stringing one hit and one walk. The Tigers recorded back-to-back bunts to set up the run for Gartner. The Eagles never had a base runner in scoring position. Justin Crider went 2-for-3 for Ozarks.

Big Eighth Inning Dooms Eagles
Marshall, Texas-East Texas Baptist University overcame a 5-4 deficit to begin the eighth inning and scored five runs in the frame to claim a 9-6 victory over the Eagles. The Tigers plated five runs in the bottom of the eighth behind just two hits. The Tigers took advantage of four Eagle errors in the frame. Fielder Dufrene put the Eagles on the board first with an RBI single in the second. The Eagles forged ahead 4-0 in the top of the third on three hits. Breyden Varner drove in one run and Josh Woolly later scored on an error. The final run came on a Dakota Ebarb RBI single. But the Tigers responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to climb within 4-2. Varner drove in another run in the fourth to make it 5-2. However, the Tigers scratched across a run in the fifth and sixth inning and then exploded for five in the eighth. The Eagles generated one run in the top of the ninth on a Sam Swartz RBI single.

Baseball Eagles Fall To Ouachita Baptist
Arkadelphia, Ark.-Ouachita Baptist University overcame a 2-0 deficit to take a 4-2 win over the Eagles Tuesday afternoon. In the second inning, Mason DaBour singled in Dakota Ebarb, who had earlier reached base on a double. With one out, Justin Crider reached base on a single to put a pair of runners on base for Rocky Liveoak. Liveoak delivered an RBI as he grounded out to second base. The Tigers were able to get the third out, but Ozarks still led 2-0. In the fifth, Ouachita Baptist battled back behind two hits. With two outs, the Tigers had a two-run double and an RBI single to take the lead for good. The Eagles did record two hits in the sixth and two hits in the seventh, but were unable to generate any runs. The Eagles outhit the Tigers 11-7. Breyden Varner, Fielder Dufrene and Josh Woolly all had two hits. David Beck took the loss after tossing 4.2 innings.

Eagles Split Twinbill With Hardin-Simmons
Clarksville, Ark.-After four hits and two runs, including Patrick Mixon's sixth-inning homerun, the Eagles suffered a 6-2 loss against the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboys. The first run of the game came from Justin Crider, who scored in the first inning off a fielder's choice. Crider and Mixon both went 1-for-3. Crider, Mixon, Breyden Varner, and Rocky Liveoak each added one hit to the board. The Eagles used 12 combined hits to score 11 runs, including one home run from Breyden Varner and another from Justin Crider, to sweep past the Cowboys in an 11-8 win Saturday afternoon in the second game of the series. Dakota Ebarb, Crider, Varner, and Josh Woolly all added two hits. Corey Steward pitched the final three innings to remain perfect on the season (5-0).

The Eagles took a 3-2 lead in the third behind three hits and two Hendrix errors. The Eagles moved ahead 4-2 in the top of the fourth on Fielder Dufrene's RBI single. Sam Swartz homered in the fifth to put the Eagles in front 5-3. But the Warriors rallied from the deficit and scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth. The Eagles outhit Hendrix 11-8. Justin Crider, Rocky Liveoak, Patrick Clifford and Dufrene all had two hits. Starter David Beck went 5.2 innings and struck out four.

Baseball Team Suffers Third Straight One-Run Loss
Longview, Texas-LeTourneau University edged the Eagles 4-3 in game one. The Eagles climbed back into the game in the top of the seventh. Justin Crider ripped a two-run double to make it 4-3. Crider eventually ended up on third to represent the tying run, but LeTourneau was able to force a groundout to end the game. The Eagles outhit LeTourneau 7-5, with Crider recording a team-best two hits. With the score tied 1-1, LeTourneau scored three times in the sixth inning to mount pressure on the Eagles.

LeTourneau Uses 11th Inning Walk-Off Home Run To Win
Longview, Texas-Will Bradshaw hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift LeTourneau University to a 5-4 win over the Eagles Friday night. In the top of the 10th, Fielder Dufrene’s infield chopper and an error by LeTourneau gave Ozarks a 4-2 advantage. The runs were generated as a result of three consecutive hits to start the 10th inning. LeTourneau got back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the 10th to even the score. Bryce Elder and Justin Crider had RBI in the seventh inning to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Gyeongju Kim scattered five hits over seven innings and allowed only one run as the starter.

Conway, Ark.-The Eagles' offense struggled to generate any runs as Hendrix College shutout the visitors 3-0 Monday night. The Eagles tallied only five hits with Justin Crider recording two of them. Seth Tucker struck out five Eagle batters. Hendrix scratched across one run in the first inning and then plated two in the fourth on a double. Jake Holland took the loss for Ozarks.

Eagles Score 21 Runs Against Mary Hardin-Baylor To Finish Weekend Sweep
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles roughed up six pitchers, recorded 22 hits, batted two grand slams and scored the most runs since 1996 in Saturday's 21-13 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor. With the win, the Eagles swept the series 3-0. Oddly enough, the game appeared to be headed for a disaster as Mary Hardin-Baylor plated five runs in the third and four in the fourth to hold a 9-0 lead. But the Eagles had other things in mind as Patrick Clifford began with a grand slam in the bottom half of the third. Clifford's home run ignited a six-run third inning. Rocky Liveoak followed with a two-run double and Patrick Mixon recorded an RBI single. The Crusaders responded with three runs in the top of the fifth only to have the Eagles answer with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Still trailing 12-9, the difference was the sixth inning. The Eagles blasted the Crusaders for ten runs on eight hits. Breyden Varner cranked out a three-run homer to begin the surge. Patrick Mixon then hit a grand slam to give the Eagles a 16-12 lead and let the air out of the Crusaders. In Mixon's standout game, he finished 3-for-5 with six RBI. Not to be outdone, Clifford went 2-for-5 with five RBI. Varner had four RBI. Josh Woolly and Rocky Liveoak each had four hits.

Baseball Team Takes Friday Double-Header
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles exploded for all eight runs on six hits in the fifth inning to take game one 8-3. Ozarks cranked out two home runs in the frame, with Breyden Varner and Fielder Dufrene blasting a two-run and three-run shot, respectively. The Eagles' big fifth inning still didn't overshadow starter Gyeongju Kim's strong performance. Kim tossed a complete game and scattered six hits while fanning five. Josh Woolly had three hits, while Varner drove in two and Dufrene drove in three. In game two with the score tied 6-6 in the seventh inning, the Eagles nudged across the game-winning run on an error by the Crusaders.

Arkansas Tech Edges Eagles
Russellville, Ark.-Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Layton Robinson threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts to edge the Eagles 3-1 Tuesday. The Eagles held the lead first when they scored in the top of the third on an error. Tech came back in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good scoring twice. The Eagles would generate a few hits after that, but Robinson induced two double plays to end any threats.

Brownwood, Texas-Howard Payne exploded for eight runs in the first inning en route to a 14-4 win over the Eagles Saturday in game three of the conference series. Howard Payne recorded five hits in the frame. Ozarks did score once in the second, but Howard Payne got the run back in the bottom half of the inning. The Eagles cut it to 9-4 in the third on RBI from Justin Crider, Breyden Varner and Josh Woolly. Howard Payne would later score four runs in the sixth to finish out the game.

Eagles Win Series Against Sul Ross State
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles' bats were red hot to start the game Saturday afternoon and finished with a 10-9 comeback victory. After three straight home runs by Sam Swartz, Patrick Clifford, and Dakota Ebarb put Ozarks up 5-0, a comfortable victory seemed apparent. Sul Ross had other plans. Entering the seventh inning, the Lobos trailed 6-1. Over the next two innings the visiting team would go on to amass six runs, which tied the game at 6-6. The Eagles were able to answer with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. A Patrick Clifford home run and a Patrick Mixon single to left had Ozarks ahead 8-6. A dramatic ninth inning saw Sul Ross first baseman, Jacob Ocoa, hit a three-run home run to put the visitors back on top at 9-8. The scrappy Eagles once again mounted a comeback in the bottom of the inning. Matt Alamia scored on a Breyden Varner single, and Dakota Ebarb put the game away with a game winning, walk-off single to center field.

Concordia Hands Eagles ASC Opening Loss
Austin, Texas-Concordia University Texas struck out 13 batters and scored the decisive run in the fifth inning to pull away from the Eagles and earn a 4-2 victory Friday night in the conference opener for both squads. The Eagles grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a Josh Woolly RBI single and a Patrick Mixon solo home run. Concordia scored a run in the bottom half of the inning and eventually tied the game in the fourth. Concordia tripled in a run and then had a sacrifice RBI to take the lead for good. The Eagles recorded just two hits after giving up the lead. Starting pitcher Gyeongju Kim was impressive as he struck out the first three batters he faced. He then had a strikeout in the next three innings. Kim allowed just four hits over six innings of work, but was charged with the loss. Josh Woolly went 2-for-4 for the Eagles.

Chase Edwards drove in the game-winning run with a double in the bottom of the eighth inning to push the Eagles to a 7-6 win in second game of the day. With the score tied 6-6, Breyden Varner led off the bottom of the eighth with a double, and Edwards promptly sent a shot to left center to bring in the decisive run. Hendrix led 2-0 early, but Ozarks rallied for four runs in the bottom of the second to move ahead. Justin Crider highlighted the inning with a three-run homer. Josh Woolly had an RBI double in the third and Varner posted an RBI double in the sixth. Corey Steward (2-0) pitched two hitless innings to end the game and receive the win. Varner and Patick Clifford each had three hits.

Millikin Completes Sweep
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles had trouble slowing down the Millikin offense as it allowed double digit runs for the second straight game. Millikin pounded out 20 hits against seven Ozarks' pitchers in a 16-5 victory to complete a three-game weekend sweep. Millikin plated four runs in the first inning, but Ozarks showed some fight in the bottom half of the frame and scored three. Chase Edwards and Patrick Mixon both had RBI. Millikin came right back in the top of the second and got those runs back by scoring four. In the third, Josh Woolly homered to bring the score to 8-4. Millikin would put the game away behind a six-run fifth inning. Mixon had a multiple-hit game going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Millikin Scores 18 Runs In Double-Header Sweep
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles found themselves in a hole and couldn't climb out of it as Millikin University took a 6-2 game one win followed by a dominating 12-0 game two win. Millikin scored twice in the second and once in the third to hold an early lead. Ozarks scored once in the fourth on Justin Crider's solo home run. The Big Blue answered with three runs in the fifth to build a 6-1 advantage. Millikin pitcher Connor Gross gave up eight hits, but kept the Eagles scoring output at a minimum. He struck out five. Crider and Sam Swartz each had two hits. Millikin shut down Ozarks' offense limiting the Eagles to just three hits over nine innings in the12-0 victory. Millikin produced 18 hits and three home runs. A trio of Millikin pitchers owned the Eagles, striking out eight to keep the home team off the board and record a shutout. Ozarks used six pitchers in the game. Swartz had two of the Eagles three hits. Millikin had six players in the lineup that recorded multiple-hit games.

Eagles, Warriors Battle Through 12 Innings; Game Suspended And To Be Completed February 27
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles and Hendrix College battled until they couldn't battle anymore. After 12 complete innings, the game was suspended and will completed February 27 when the Warriors visit Lonnie R. Qualls Field. With darkness settling in, the game was suspended.

Crider Performs More Late Inning Heroics For 4-0 Eagles
Clarksville, Ark.-For the second straight day, Justin Crider provided the heroics as he blasted a three-run walk-off homer to help the Eagles to a 8-7 game one win. The Eagles then completed the four-game sweep with a convincing 18-4 game two win. It is the first 4-0 start for the program since 2005. Crider, who ripped the game-winning double in Friday's game two win, wasn't done with his dramatics for the weekend. With two outs and runners on second and third, the left-handed Crider took a curveball and launched it over the right field fence to send the Eagles into a frenzy. Crider, Josh Woolly and Chase Edwards all drove in runs for Ozarks. Corey Steward received the win in relief. Steward was masterful in his 3.1 innings of work, allowing only one hit and fanning three. In game two, junior pitcher Brady Taylor looked strong on the mound tossing five innings and allowing only three hits while striking out four to push Ozarks to a 18-4 win. Taylor didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning. Taylor received plenty of run support as the Eagles pounded out 15 hits in the contest. It was a battle at the bat racks as ten Eagles recorded hits. Patrick Mixon led the charge with a 3-for-3 performance. Crider, Breyden Varner and Fielder Dufrene had two hits each, and Varner and Chase Edwards drove in three runs. The Eagles plated runs in every inning except the fifth.

Baseball Team Takes Double-Header Sweep In Dramatic Fashion
Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles pounded out 12 hits with eight players recording hits and got an outstanding pitching performance from starter Gyeongju Kim to win game one 14-2. Kim was nearly untouchable in the first two innings as he struck out the first four batters he faced. Kim ended the day with seven strikeouts and received plenty of run support. The Eagles plated four runs in the first inning and then added one run in the second, third and fourth frames. Kim was able to leave the game with a 14-0 lead. He pitched six scoreless innings and walked just one. Offensively, Josh Woolly went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Sam Swartz, Chase Edwards and Breyden Varner all drove in two runs. In game two, Justin Crider ripped a two-run double to left field to push across the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Trailing 4-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Patrick Mixon singled up the middle to start the rally. Bryce Elder then doubled to right field to advance Mixon to third. Josh Woolly reached on an error and drove in Mixon to cut the deficit to 4-3. Crider did the rest as he doubled to bring two runs in. Senior pitcher Hayden Keller was equally impressive as he was lights out in the top of the ninth igniting the entire Eagles team. Keller struck out the side to bring the crowd and team to their feet and clearly give momentum to the home team. Neither team scored until the fifth inning when Berea punched in four runs. Bryce Elder went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Crider finished 2-for-4.

2018 Baseball Preview
Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks baseball team returns seven starters and six All-Conference players to form a veteran club entering the 2018 season. Seven position players return to starting roles this season, while numerous pitchers return from a year ago. The Eagles open the season with 12 consecutive home games.
"We are bringing back a lot of guys overall who understand what they are up against in terms of competition in this conference," said head coach Aaron Gentry. "For us to turn the corner, the guys just have to perform. Most notably, guys must perform on the mound, and as a team, our defense must come through. We have to have pitchers that are able to go deep in the game. Offensively, we need to cut down on the number of strikeouts. We need to make more consistent contact and make the defense make plays against us."
Spearheading the offensive attack are returning All-Conference players Justin Crider (OF), Patrick Clifford (UT), Chase Edwards (1B), Josh Woolly (2B), Dakota Ebarb (3B) and Bryce Elder (C). Crider was named All-Region after leading the team in slugging percentage (.635), triples (4), doubles (17), runs (40), total bases (94), stolen bases (7) and walks (21). He finished second in hitting (.365), home runs (5) and hits (54), and third in on-base percentage (.458) and RBI (23). Crider hit for the cycle with a 4-for-5 performance against Grinnell College. Clifford finished third on the team in batting (.343) and slugging percentage (.582). He also recorded eight doubles and two home runs, including a dramatic walk-off homer against Texas Dallas. He posted 15 RBI and 23 hits. Edwards posted one of the top freshman seasons in program history. He led the team with a .390 batting average, and recorded a team-best 57 hits, 32 RBI and six home runs. He finished second on the team in slugging percentage (.582), runs (27), total bases (85) and on-base percentage (.465). Woolly drove in 26 runs, second-most on the team, and recorded 11 doubles, also second-most on the team. He ranked third in hits (40) and home runs (3). He owned a .265 batting average, .411 slugging percentage and posted 62 total bases. Ebarb hit .299 with five doubles, 14 RBI and 26 hits. He also posted a .378 on-base percentage. He homered once and ended the year with 34 total bases. He had seven multiple-hit games, including a 5-for-5 performance against Grinnell College. Elder hit .270 with 20 hits and 15 runs. He owned a .969 fielding percentage. Elder led the team with a .518 on-base percentage. He also led the team in hit by pitches with 22.
"We are returning a lot of guys on the mound," said Gentry. "We are looking at several guys to get multiple innings this year."
Right-hander Dalton Spurgeon led the team with nine starts and returns for his junior season. Spurgeon tossed 32.2 innings and struck out 21. Right-hander Jack Waggoner and Gyeongju Kim both had six starts last season, while Jacob Barker and Hayden Keller tied for the team-lead with 14 appearances. Waggoner posted three wins and Kim made a splash when he retired 18 straight batters against Belhaven last season. Barker posted a team-high three saves. Keller, a left-hander, owned a team-best 2.73 ERA.
