Austin, Texas-The Eagles upset bid against Concordia University Texas came up short as the Tornados owned the final ten minutes of the game to earn a 95-84 win Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.
Ozarks (4-7, 2-6 ASC) trailed 40-31 at the half, but put up a better effort in the second half to gain a 43-42 advantage behind Josh Ferrell's three-pointer at the 17:32 mark. It would be Ozarks only lead of the half despite climbing within one point on a pair of occasions. The latter came with 10:57 left in the game after Ricky Allen hit two free throws. Concordia (9-3, 6-3 ASC) then reeled off a 12-0 run over the next two minutes to establish a double-digit lead. From that point, the Tornados maintained a big lead the Eagles couldn't overcome.
Ted Beard IV posted a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Ferrell scored 15 points, while Allen added 14 points and five steals. Kelby Robinson and Kristopher McCrary had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Eagles will travel to Belton, Texas, to face Mary Hardin-Baylor January 11.
