Allen’s Near Triple-Double Leads Eagles To Win

Clarksville, Ark.-Ricky Allen's near triple-double paced the Eagles to a 83-73 win over Howard Payne University Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.

The junior guard scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out nine assists. Allen did most of his scoring damage in the second half as he poured in 14 points, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers. Allen and the Eagles (7-14, 5-13 ASC) were even with Howard Payne (4-17, 4-14 ASC) at intermission, 38-38, but came out in the second half and took control of the contest. Josh Ferrell and Allen hit back-to-back three-pointers in the opening four minutes of the game, and Ozarks eventually built a ten-point advantage at the midway point of the second half. Allen nailed another jump shot and Joshua Clark drilled a three-pointer to extend Ozarks' lead to 71-55 with 7:23 remaining. Howard Payne did make a run to trim the deficit to five points late in the contest, but that would be as close as it could get.

Ferrell scored 15 points and hit three from long-range. Ted Beard IV had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Ozarks will host Mary Hardin-Baylor February 13 and Concordia University Texas February 15.
