Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O men's basketball team shot just 33 percent from the field in its final regular season home game and Louisiana College hit 50 percent of its shots as the Wildcats cruised to a 91-68 win Thursday night.
Despite its loss, Ozarks (8-17, 4-16 ASC) still has a shot at qualifying for the American Southwest Conference Tournament as the No. 8 seed. In order for the Eagles to advance to post-season play, LeTourneau University (5-19, 3-16 ASC) must drop its final game against Howard Payne University on Saturday.
Against Louisiana College (14-8, 14-5 ASC), the Eagles started slow and never really recovered from 43-23 halftime deficit. Louisiana College hit 54 percent from the floor and led by as much as 21-6 at one point. In the second half, Anthony Gaines Jr. poured in 16 points and missed just one shot. Louisiana College outscored the Eagles 48-45 in the second half, but Ozarks fell too far behind early to make it a close game.
Jace Richardson paced Ozarks with 17 points.
